Has anyone used this type of product for shipping and whelping bedding? It is pure polypropylene and extremely absorbent. It is harmless to animals. I am going to order a roll and see how it performs:

I've never heard of it.. sort of interesting... I use a fleece like rubber backed pad, gives great surface for traction and liquids sink thru to the bottom where I have those liners they use for wheelchair and bedridden patients.. That would be my only concern fo this stuff..
Are you planning on using it for little babies?? Maybe they'll send you a sample so you can check it out..
I still use pine shavings once they are old enough to come out to the big pen on the porch.... messy but still the easiest

Interesting. Let us know what your take on the pads are.
DKiah-
Where do you get rubber backed fleece-line pads please?
I use carpet samples for a lot fo things: bottom of whelping box, crates, dog-trailer boxes. I get them in bulk for nearly nothing, stack 'em 1-5 deep (deepest on trips in the trailer boxes) and when they're soiled, or the youngsters tear them to shreds: into the nearest dumpster they go.
Once pups are 3-4 weeks old I move them onto course cedar shavings (Walmart) for the night/cold weather indoor pens, and pea gravel, rubber horse mats, paving stone or concrete outdoor excersize runs.

http://www.xocom.com is the website for Breeder Base and they carry the DuraWhelp plastic coated cardboard whelping boxes.. the pads are sized to fit them
I think also JB Wholesale (out of NJ - they call it Sterilon) carries and also KVvet, Omaha Vaccine.. maybe even Revival Animal.
It's great stuff .. washes and dries really well and when the rubber backing starts to come off, I will use them to drape over the futon in the whelping room.. protects it when Mom tries to get a comfy break away from the demanding little guys!
Hope this helps
