What are your thoughts on feeding if you have a dog with a compromised immune system, however, has been fed raw for past 3 years with great success? Now on pain med's also. Thx in advance, Nan

Nan are you talking about your cancer dog?
If so, more than one vet and a tech recommended Raw because tumors grow on carbs. A high protein diet will actually help to starve the tumor. If not, what kinda of issue does the dog have?

My girl was immune compromised (EPI) and was on a raw diet all her life. She was also on pain meds . She did best on raw.

i fed my EPI boy raw as well. he also had IgA deficiency. My senior with kidney failure i cook for as this should be easier on the digestive system... so I guess it would depend on why the immune system was compromised and the age of the dgo if i would switch from raw to cooking in my house. I know I would not switch to kibble.

Thanks everyone; Yes Bhaugh this is my 14 l/2 year old girl; just wanted to verify the raw, I thought somewhere I read for immune compromised dogs raw was NOT good. I can't imagine but could not find where I read that.
Anyway plan to keep her on raw as she has done so well the past 3 years; just wanted to hear a few thoughts and what others may do for any immune deficiency dogs. Thanks so much, as you all probably know this is invaluable information that you cannot find in a book or from a vet. These are life experiences of everyone trying to do the best for this dogs. Nan
