BigBrother,
I do not know where you are shipping FROM, but I assume the US?
Remember that you must find a carrier that ships when temperatures are lower, or ship at a time when the temperature is warm. Continental does not require the temperature to be a certain temp, due to the fact that they have climate controlled cargo holds on the ground as well as in the plane. Delta requires an acclimation certificate from a vet in addition to the health certificate (you will need the long form USDA International Health Certificate if you are shipping from the US) saying the animal is acclimated to fly at such and such temperatures for such and such length of time.
Continental and Delta both fly to Madrid, Spain from the US.
You can call the Cargo numbers for either, and they can give you more details, and likely help you find another carrier if they cannot fly the dog for you.
Good luck! :)

You need the temperature acclimation certificate only when you expect temperatures to be below 45 degrees Fahrenheit at any of the airports that your dog will "visit" on this trip: origination, stops, destination. If temperatures are between 45 and 84 degrees no certificate is needed. Delta flies to Madrid from Atlanta and New York - JFK.
