Hi All, as some of you may know, I recently purchased a new female puppy. I plan on using her for SchH and Personal Protection. I want any and all opinions on her, so please feel free to share what you think of her. I expect good, honest feedback, and any suggestions? Thanks all and Happy New Year, http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/479294.html

I am a Huge fan of that pedigree. Just keep in mind that some Czech dogs mature very slow. I have hear great things about the male. Most of the pedigree is what i have also. Best of luck

Weberhaus, Thanks for the compliment! She is such a sweetie, as we speak, she is sleeping beneath my feet. I have a question for everyone: Naya recently has started this MAJOR attachment thing...She won't let me out of her sight. When people come near me, even those she knows, she trys to sit between us. She even joins me in the shower, and actually sits down in the tub and lets me bathe her. Because I don't want her coat to dry out, I've only let her shower with me once every two weeks, and I apply conditioner to her fur. So, my question is this; Is she TOO attached to me?

IMO,most of the czech dogs i have seen tend to be very nervy if not socialized enough. hey weberhaus, when are you going to get your schH 2?

BlueSky, I have a male from the same breeder and he is a pretty tough dog! I didn't get him till he was an adult. If I had gotten him as a young dog I would have done more socialization with him. He tends to have some dominance issues....I suspect that is why the original owner could not keep him....they were not experienced owners of dominant dogs. He is a real thinker too. It only takes once for him to watch you do something and then he can figure it out. He is also a very good manipulator. He used to get really upset if you stayed on the phone too long and would start barking till you hang up! He wanted in the house one afternoon and had watched me open the storm door and pretty soon here he came! Let himself in! He also NEEDED to be worked at a younger age! I started working him in schutzhund and alot of his issues resolved. I think working gave him a real outlet that he had needed for 4 years! He had NEVER done schutzhund before I got him and you could just see him light up with the realization that this was what he was meant to do! Anyway, good luck with your kiddo and have fun! Your kiddo came from a very good breeder! Vickie

Your puppy needs to learn to spend time alone and away from you.. whether or not she is a forward type personality.. I cringe when I near people saying anything including.."my dog won't let me"..... There will be times when she has to be alone and she needs to get used to that BECAUSE YOU SAY SO and because it eill be necessary at some time or another!!! Now is the time to start showing your dog leadership .....

DKiah, I really respect what you had to say, I do believe it is her not only getting possesive, but my having about as much spine as a Jelly fish. I do need to be a leader, even more so as I plan on doing Schutzhund, because if I had doubts, I'm sure she'll pick up on them. Vickie, I love Chip, the breeder, he is a very kind man, but to be honest I think he might be getting out of breeding. Two of his females retired this year, including Ginta, dam of my girl, Naya. Truth be told, even though I love Naya with all of my heart, I do think I would've been just as happy with one of his females from his bitch Naya z PS, as she is his own personal protection dog, similar to Ginta, but with one difference, she has a LOT bigger bone structure. I fell in love with Ginta though, so it was a sacrifice I thought was worth it. Thanks all for suggestions, and help, and for being honest!

She's a beauty! But she is DEFINITELY going to need to be kept busy with that breeding. And becoming a "vertebrate" with her will be all important. I have Czech dogs and they are big into trying to decide for you what is the correct way to do things (their way- :-) ). I've watched mine actually think something through to decide whether it was the right thing to do at the time... And to echo what weberhaus said, their growing time is long and slow. My male has finally started to really fill out now at 6. His father was done until 7 or 8. Best of luck with her!

She has a gorgeous color, and looks like she is up to no good!!! She looks like she is going to be a sassy little thing. I love the dark colors on her, is she going to be a black sable? Here is a picture/pedigree of my pup I'm keeping out of my litter. www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/491284.html. Her sister and her were very hard to make a decision on, because her sister is very sassy, but I chose to pick her. Best of luck with your girl, you will be able to go far with her and that pedigree!!!!
