Wild Heart

I am in search for a working line male GSD puppy preferably out of an upcoming litter or out of a later planned breeding. I was doing a search for breeders in NC and came up with this site :

http://www.summerwoodfarmnc.com/about-us/

After searching a bit about them I haven't really came up with much accept for an old post on here that I couldn't respond to. I was impressed with their male "Attilla" and their Dam Shadow looks nice but I couldn't find much on her pedigree and they don't have a page for their individual dogs. I contacted him and asked about her pedigree and have not heard back on that. Has anyone here ever dealt with this breeder or can you tell me anything about them? I think I might pass on this but would like opinions. And if anyone can point me in the right direction of some good breeders in NC,SC,VA or GA, I would greatly appreciate it!

I had a quick look at the website and Attilla seems to be a working line showline cross and the bitch pictured with a litter looked showline so I wouldn't say they fit the description of working line, though obviously they may well be working dogs.

Oh I forgot to say I was possibly interested in his M litter. Thank you for your reply Margaret!

What are you looking for? Companion dog, dog for agility or similar, or want to do Schutzhund? I live in NC, but have not dealt with this breeder, nor do I know someone who did. so cant say if they are legit or not. My personal impression from the website is that its made to sell puppies foremost.

Just a quick OFA search does not turn up the mother, searched by both name and number listed here.

I personally know someone who has done business with them. You can PM me if you wish...

I am mostly looking for a companion/family dog and one that we can train in Schutzhund, I know that there is a club not too far from us in Jacksonville. I must have a male that I can be sure will pass an OFA and could be a suitable Sire in the future as well.

Maybe ask if you can go to the club without buying a dog first and see if you like what you see, talk to people, listen to their recommendations and experiences etc. Coastal Carolina's website isn't working, but here is Jacksonville's http://www.jacksonvilleschhclub.com/

That's a good idea Mollyandjack, I might head up that way this Saturday morning.

Really, the only way to be sure that the puppy you want to buy will pass OFA will be to buy an adult who already has his OFA cert. People say puppies are a crapshoot, but there is no reason you can't stack the deck in your favor if you truly want a puppy. Just remember with a puppy, there are no guarantees to what it will or will not be as an adult.

i would def pass.  sorry.  i will not buy from anyone that welps in a damn kiddie pool.
the bitches deserve a real welping box and if they can't do that, they shouldn't be
breeding dogs.
