I've been working hard the past 2 weekends to be able to ready Nero for his CDX  and at least the Ob portion of his IPO1 and these are what I have come up with :) They are unpainted as of yet, but will hopefully have a fresh coat tomorrow.

This jump is adjustable from 8 inches and up to 36 inches, made from reclaimed lumber.

Regulation AKC broad jump (the jump is not crooked, my yard is :) also from reclaimed lumber. Will be white with blue 18" stripe in the center.

What do ya think? Not bad for a few hours work.

Cool.....Nice job.......I love to build stuff too....post completed pictures when your done.
I've never seen a broad jump before.......looks like something I need to add to my agility course. Are those 2x6's? How high is the first one off the ground and what increments did you raise each section to? Sorry....I get carried away when I see cool new dog stuff I could build.......LOL.

Nice work, I've also seen these built from PVC and PVC fencing boards. Good use of materials. Waste not want not.

Hey Cherie! Yes, they are 2X6, so the actual measurements is 1.5 X 5.5. The dimensions on the broad jump panels are 1. 3 1/2" low point, 5" high point 2. 4 3/4" low point, 5 3/4 in high point 3. 5" low point, 6 1/2" high point 4. 5 3/4 low point, 7 1/4" high point 5. 6 1/2 " low point, 8" high point.
I was trying to make it so each of the jumps fit inside the next one,  but didn't take into acct the fact that I was no using a smaller width lumber, so the highest jump is 5'L and each jump is 1.5" smaller than the previous.
Height division:   8  12  16  20  24  26
Jump distance (inches):  16  24  32  40  48  52
Number of 6" panels: 2  3  4  5  5  5

Dragonfry: I use what I have available :) I'm dog broke LOL

I tried to explain to Hubby what I wanted...ha ha. He wanted plans, but unfortunately the only plans I had were in my head for the high jump.

Do either of you (or anyone else?) have the Sch measurements for the A-frame? I think I have enough lumber to complete one.

Awesome! Very nice work. I had to chuckle at your not taking into account the length of the broad jumps when thinking of them nesting, that is totally something I would forget to do as well.

Hi Melissa,

Thanks for the measurements.....now I'm going to have to go dig in my left over wood pile for the stuff to build one :)

I remember seeing the measurements for the A-frame in the new rule book.
Takes a good bit of lumber and will be VERY HEAVY when done.
I've not had to make one of those since my SAR teams agility equipment (which includes an A-frame) is stored at my house.

Have fun with the rest of your project and don't forget to post pictures when your done.

Cheri

Hey.....this might be a fun topic to start on the PDB...."Fun ideas for CDX and Agility equipment".

Ok, so it has taken me a bit to finally get them painted, but there's a trial in like 3 weeks that I would like to attend so figured now would be a good time to finish them LOL

There are more boards laying next to the high jump, but it is set to his trial height for now :)
