Does any one feed Pinnacle or Breeders Choice brand dog foods. I have been thinking about converting over to Pinnacle and Active Care. I am just looking for opinions and results after feeding. Thanks, Jen

Jen, I know a vet tech that feeds Pinnacle. I believe that AvoDerm is a Breeder's Choice food. If so, I do feed that to my dogs occasionally, and recommend it for pups (their puppy formula has not too much protein, but the right combination of other vitamins and minerals) at that age it's hard to find something to feed that people don't have to special order that's still a high quality food (from 12 weeks to 12 months, when I switch them to Royal Canin or another food that works good with your specific dog). (You can pick up AvoDerm at Petco) I did take a look at the link provided by kargra, and though it is extensive, I don't 100% agree with dog food placement. 2 of my 5 dogs got hot spots when eating Canidae. 3 of them did not do well on Eagle Pack Original Adult. That is not to say that they are not quality foods, but that seems like a high incidence of issues from dogs that are from different lineage. Just my opinion! :) Good luck in your switch! :)

Vom Banach K9 feeds Pinnacle to all her dogs. They look great, none have itchy skin or feet, shiny coats and good body weight and they all like the flavor. Julie (the breeder) really like's the Breeder's Choice foods and I can see why. I have seen several of her recent imports go from having no shine to their hair coat and less than great body condition to shine city and a healthier body in just two weeks on Pinnacle. I have also fed the Pinnacle to my group and they did very well on it as well. Might switch back to that down the road, right now they are on Natural Balance (which is made by the same manufacturer).

Hi, This is a great site http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/index.php/cat/1 I have been studying canine nutrition for several years and truthfully there is no one food that is right for every dog. I still believe that homecooked is best but not convenient for most. Breeders Choice makes "Health Food for Dogs" which I think is the best of the three and certainly cheaper than Pinnacle. I was reading an article just the other day on high bone growth in puppies and it is thought that it isnt the amount of protein in the food but rather the amount of calcium and I agree with this. I have raised pups on raw diet and their growth rate was less than half that of pups on bagged food. Protein does play a role because of how calcium is absorbed in the system but I never did buy into the high protein diet and growth since raising pups on raw. Sorry to get off the subject. Right now I am feeding Blue Buffalo Holistic dogs look great but once again not enough fat and a bit pricey at $40.00 a bag. I have a hard time maintaining body weight on raw over the winter so I feed bagged. Happy New Year
