I don't go to Petco; I live in the country and make my rounds to the known places that "have what I need." So when someone called me asking what to buy for their puppy and they said they were at Petco, I told them to go through the first (higher quality isles) and read what was there. When they said Merricks, I could not beleive it. Merricks at Petco. Is the quality going to go to carp? Does anyone know if Merricks has comprimised thier ingredients for mass sales? I am not saying that just they are at a big chain now makes them bad but it does concern me as to the direction they are heading.

I think so. I was reading about Merrick the other day. I guess there have been some issues with quality. Merrick has been at Petco for a long time. I was going to buy a bag but when I read about their issues, I decided to pass

For all the uninformed dog owners in the world, having Merricks at Petco, Wellness at Petsmart and 4 Health at TSC,  has to be one heck of a better choice than the corn, wheat, soy and animal digest products they sell at Walmart. Having the shelves stocked at major retailers with a good grain free species appropriate food choice, in my opinion, is great news for dogs everywhere.  Maybe the tide is turning and people will start to wake up to what they should be feeding their dogs. Those of us that have done our research on dog foods, I believe, are the small minority.

Merrick classic chicken, brown rice and green pea regular adult, not large breed adult is one of the foods that we use. Stools are great, weights are great and so are coats. No issues here. Actually I like it better than Acana Chicken & Burbank Potato which we use too. Cheaper to order online.

I used to purchase Merrick's canned food as an extra treat for my senior dog from a pet boutique - but I always noticed that after 2 days of being in the fridge (with it being sealed) there would be a grayish/blackish soot like thing that would start appearing around the brim and bottom of the food. I'd thought about writing to Merrick about it but never got around to it. I just stopped buying it altogether.

I always liked Merricks; but it gave my dogs way too much gas.
