I use to feed solid gold, but the economy drove me to a little cheaper brand. It's good stuff, my dogs loved it and they looked great on it. Raised a litter of American bulldogs on this stuff. They did great in it too. But currently it's a bit too pricey and i'm current dog is loving Taste of the Wild.

We use Solid Gold Wolf King for the older one and Solid Gold Wolf Cub for the pup. They both do great on it.

On a serious note, that is one food I would never feed.
Adkins1986,
The Wolf King and Wolf cub were both recalled last May. Solid Gold is made by Diamond and after meeting and talking to the owner and reps at several major industry trade shows over the years I'd never use it. I tried the Hunde Flocken years ago and it was horrible. Probably the worst food I ever fed my dogs.

Isnt TOTW, manufactured by diamond too? I have never had an once of problems out of diamond products. Slamdunc what do you feed?

by Slamdunc on 23 March 2013 - 10:03
I feed a raw diet.

The recall was because the plant in Gaston, SC was dirty. The same brands from different plants throughout the country were fine. The Gaston plant has a history of recalls because of sanitation issues.

I used to feed Barking at the Moon even when it was close to $70 a bag. Solid Gold has changed their recipe more than once since then so now I can find a better kibble for less. 20 years ago it was good when it wasn't extruded. I wouldn't feed it now. Raw is better and cheaper.

How can you find out what plant a bag of dog food what manufactured in?

by Bhaugh on 24 March 2013 - 13:03
There should be numbers somewhere stamped on the bag. You will probably have to go online to decipher them but the numbers should give you when the food was bagged and where. Thats what lets manufact. know when food is bad and where it came from.
