(I am sharing this urgent message that I got. Thankyou!)

VERY, VERY URGENT! POOR FEDERICO WAS FOUND AS A BADLY WOUNDED STRAY AND ENDED UP IN DEATH ROW. THE WONDERFUL VOLUNTEERS FROM RIOJA RESCUED HIM AND TOOK HIM TO THE VET WHERE THEY THINK HIS FOOT WILL HAVE TO BE AMPUTATED. THERE IS STILL HOPE THAT A VERY GOOD SURGEON COULD SAVE IT BUT FUNDS ARE NEEDED TO PAY FOR THAT. MONEY IS IN VERY SHORT SUPPLY FOR SPECIAL NEEDS ANIMALS AT THE BEST OF TIMES, BUT NOW WITH THE CRISIS THIS IS A NIGHTMARE.

FEDERICO IS ABOUT 18 MONTHS OLD, HE HAS BEEN TRAINED AND NEEDS COMPANY, HE IS A SUPER SOCIABLE ANGEL WHO ALLOWS THE VET TO DO ANYTHING TO HIM WITHOUT COMPLAINING.

BELOW ALL THE INFORMATION YOU WILL NEED TO HELP IN ANY WAY YOU CAN. THANK YOU!

Poor Federico!

With all due respect to what you're trying to do, I will say that I have known dogs with missing paws/legs. They do just fine. It's not as bad as it sounds. I would worry more about paying for his care thus far and getting him a good home than trying to reattach that paw and risking the surgery fails and then there's even more money invested in a failed surgery and the poor dog still loses his paw. Honestly, if he were my dog, from what I can see in the photo, I would amputate it and let him get on with his life.

Have you seen this dog?  That picture looks photoshopped

Hi Jenni, I didnt see the dog, this message was sent by a friend from Netherland who also speaks spanish and helps animals even in Spain.  I am not a doctor but if the bones are not damage i would  put sugar into the wound, it is very succeful to repair tissues.

What looks photoshopped, I can't see anything 'off' ?

Poor boy.

Where the toes are in the left hand, the parts don't look right. Also the shadows are off..

Bingo. I do web design / development and I am 99% sure it is fake. Wouldn't send money until someone you know and trust has seen the dog first hand.

i am posting more Federico s pictures. Fortunately there are people in the world who are more concern in helping dogs than interfere with the people who are trying to help them.

So it is amazing to me on a few levels here.

#1 You say you have not seen the dog and have no idea if it is real or not just that someone you know sent you the info and do not even know if that person has seen the dog in person.  Yet you accuse me of "trying to interfere" with this poor dogs care.  What I tried to do is point out the first picture was edited.  So what do you do?  Bring back more pictures with a  different wound than the one in the original picture

#2  The picture of the mangled leg with bone showing must have gotten much much worse from the first picture you posted because if you look at the pictures you posted second the wound goes much deeper into the paw, higher up the leg (look at where the person holding the leg in the first picture's hand is compared to where the wound ends in the second picture they would have been holding the open woulnd) and has a wider open surface area.  Also in the first picture there is no bone showing and the angle of the 1st picture would have showed this as well.

#3 and I am no vet but I doubt they would be letting that dog hang out on a couch and free to roam with a wound that bad.

So no I am not trying to interfere with this dogs care I am pointing out the flaws and trying to keep people from giving someone a nice living overseas from photo shopping some pictures and begging for help for a dog that is not injured

I see it differently. It looks to me like the dog is anaesthetised in the later picture and that the wound has probably been debrided so that the vets can work on it and the area opened up. This may well mean cutting away other damaged areas which could be significant, causing the wound to look very different to the original photo The dog was clearly conscious in the first photo, and you would not stretch out the paw in those circumstances. As for the dog walking about afterwards, or stretching out on a couch.....once the wound has been attended to, stabilised and dressed, it's possible, especially when they want photographs for an appeal for funds.
