Jim, you outdid yourself with this article....this is pretty much exactly the way I have seen things evolve for the past 40 plus years. There is much truth written here and though it is painful to both sides to read, it's historical and factual content cannot be denied. I applaud you for the courage and the research to produce this article. I see the whole situation much the way you do, and ultimately feel that the breed has suffered in practical terms as a result of the goals and aspirations on both sides of the pond. The sad part is there are many folks being played here, and many emperors that are only marginally dressed, if at all.
ps...this is one reason I have in recent years come to have greater respect for the Czech and Swedish breeders, they as a whole still try to place " working dog" as a real prerequisite for their breeding goals....JMO

Gustav,
I have lived through the end of my breed, and simply can not  stand
by and watch the same story play out for another noble breed.  Many think the
German Shepherd is so well established that it can not fall, yet we
are much further down the sad road than many can admit.

No Eddy not a good idea you'll have the admins onto you:  TOS, no x-posting.
Actually I disagree anyway - in Jim Engel's own words, these problems
"can happen to your breed" i.e. ANY breed; better to leave it where it can
alert maximum audience.  Don't worry, GSD ppl who come on here can
usually find their way around the various Forums !
