Hi, I'm trying to register several of my dogs in the database. I can locate either parents or grandparents in the database, but they don't seem to link properly when I try to add a new pedigree. Also, I'm having trouble with one part of the pedigree because the dog is listed in the database, but doesn't come up on the search, nor when I am trying to do that part of the pedigree (mother's name). I've tried putting in "no information about the sire/dam" but, then when I try to update the pedigree, I run into the same problem - the dog is registered in the database, but the pedigree program doesn't locate it or identify it, even with exact spelling.

Hi Robin - I have encountered the same problem, especially in dealing with Czech dogs with a "z" or dogs that do not have von or vom. We can work around it, but it takes several tries sometimes. If there is a z in the pedigree, try putting it in with "zum". Even though this is not correct, it will somehow find the dog as an option. Also I have found that if any part of the dog's name is very unique, you can put in just that part, and it will soundex the rest of the dog's name sometimes. If this doesn't work, send me the info on your dogs and I'll try to help you. Judy Malone altostland@aol.com

Hi Judy, Thanks for offering your help, it's just a nice resource to be able to send people to this page to get pedigrees and such. Currently I am encountering problems with the female being in the database(when I try to register her, she exists, even though a search doesn't pull her up). I can't seem to get the program to link to the right dog. For instance, I just registered one of my Czech females Bara Z Konce Ase in the database, putting in "no info. for half of her pedigree to get it to accept her. But, now I am trying to put in the info on her son, and both parents are now in the database, yet the program won't link Bara into the pedigree and says that the parents aren't found. Frustrating!

I have also found that sometimnes the sex is icorrect, so you may want to double check that. It won't let you put a dog that incorrectly marked as a male as a dam! Tari
