My baby girl, 13 weeks woke me up this morning to her snorting, followed sometimes with a cough or hack. Is this kennel cough? She is still very energetic and alert. It has also been raining here for about 2 days, very cold and wet, not sure if that has anything to do with it. She still has her last set of shots next week. Should I not panic over this? Or should we be running to the vet first thing?

The snorting thing sounds almost like it could be a reverse sneeze.... most dogs do that when they are trying to expel something from their nose or throat, it is not terribly unusual and certainly doing it once is not cause for alarm.. however, if its accompanied by coughing, hacking or any other sign of something not being right, then I would consider a visit..
I'd mention it on next visit and discuss withthe vet....
A good rule of thumb, if you have any questions, about anything going on with your dog .. it's always best to have the dog looked at... no one can make a diagnosis of anthing based on a description..
We become more adept at determining what's serious and what's not and can often rule things out before we see the vet but still good to get that "look - see"
Being sure puppy can't get into anything and has nothing in its crate (cuz I'm sure at night its in a crate) that it can eat and cause problems..
I too was up numerous times with dogs last night.... strnage things, some will see the vet today!!

a very practical friend of mine told me to take some Vicks Mentholated rub and put that on the dogs snout and the snorting and cough would go away. This has never failed with me and my dogs. Don't slather it on just put some on your hands, rub them together like you would with lotion and rub it on the snout.
Hope this helps.
