This puppy suffers from megaesophagus and eats from a high chair.  Good news is she has been adopted!

Vote for Starship---the puppy in above post and if he wins, the shelter he came from gets $5,000.

Great news that she was adopted.

As a side note: Not all dogs with MegaE require the high chair.  One of my pups has this disorder and we have been able to control it 100% with portion control only.

Well that is an excellent solution, while its a puppy.  What happens when it
gets too big to get into the high chair, though ?
Cute.  Don't think I can vote from here, sorry 'bout that - hope Starship wins.

Hundmutter - For the dogs that use the high chair to resolve the Mega E, they are usually required to use one all of it's life.  Research on-line under "bailey's chair" for pictures and videos of adult dogs using the same concept.

Most dogs that go this route have a challenging food routine.   Frequently, anti-nausea medicine is given 30 min before the meal and the dog is then required to be in the upright position (like in the high chair) for 30 - 45 minutes after eating.  Meals are also split into 3 - 5 meals a day.

Cheers Fawnda,  I've never seen an ad. over here for anything
like a high chair for adult size dogs;  just heard snippets about
raising dishes on steps, bowl-frames, & stuff.  Don't personally
know anyone with a dog with MegaE, to ask, either.

I know several people with Mega E dogs and only one even raises the food bowl, though they do have to control the amount of food eaten in one go and feed several times a day.  Apart from that one feature, all their routines are different, one has sloppy food, another has lumps of tripe and another has dry kibble.  Since the food comes back because it wads up in the esophagus and doesn't get as far as the stomach, I doubt anti nausea medication would do much good, but they all seem different so maybe it does.
