I finally found one. Has anyone used a LeBistro Electric Feeder? If you, post what you think; good, bad, ugly, challenges, limitations... Give it all.

I went ahead and bought this. So far so good. The portions are off, but easily enough to compensate. The downside is that there are only 3 feedings a day. Works out ok for Cirberus, but may be an issue for others. I added freeze dried chicken and Cirberus is eating it well. She even runs over to the owl as soon as she hears the device turning on. I tested it outside last night when it rained. It did well. No water got in the food or electronics.

I don't want my dogs eating without supervision.

Fawndallas, why are you using an automatic feeder? I can't imagine needing to feed a dog more than 3 times a day unless it was a small puppy, and then one would need to be home to let said puppy out so there would be no reason for a feeder. Just curious what you are using it for.

Cirberus has Mega E. We have been able to control it 100% with portion control only; she is feed 2 cups, 3 times a day. As I work from home, I can handle this the majority of the time.
There are occasions though that I have to be away from home for up to 36 hours. With Cirberus, either she goes with me or stays at the vet, as most kennels will not feed more than twice a day. This last fall, I ran into a situation where she could not go with me and the vet could not keep her. This prompted my search for a worst case scenario plan.
We have tested out various things while I am at home and so far this is the most promising.

Sounds like it is working well, for her, but I am puzzled
about use in a multi-dog household. Do none of the
others show an unhealthy interest ? How robust is its
construction ? L.

Hundmutter, lol. Me too. I cannot imagine that thing lasting more than about .9 seconds in my house!
I see the need for it now, though. I couldn't figure out why someone would want their dog eating by itself- choking, bloat, etc. I try to be around for a while during and after meals.

Fawn, sorry cyberus has ME.
One of those feeders would be unrecognizable with any of mine, too. LOL

As Cirberus is not fixed, she is kept separate from all other dogs unless supervised. Yeah, this would not work with any of my males. As soon as they would hear the sound, it would be game on as to who can destroy it first.
So far Cirberus has not associated it to being a toy. Since her 1st heat, her food drive is now next to nothing. Right now though, I am using the feeder supervised and training that it is not a toy and to only eat the dispensed food. I have built an enclosure in the kennel so that she cannot get to the feeder itself, only the dispensed food. The enclosure also helps to make sure no other critters or cats get into the feeder.
What may be an issue though is ants (just thought about that). Since the feeder will only be out there on the rare occasion, may not be an issue. Ants do move in fast though. I usually put bait out around the outside of the kennels, as fire ants are so bad here.
