Several days ago a seriously skinny dog showed up at our house. Someone dropped it off. It lay down on the door step and wouldn't leave. When I tried to get animal control or the humane society to take her, no one had room. The law enforcement people said to shoot her! So I took it to the vet and $300 later, she's spayed and has all her shots. I already have a 9 month old Belgian Malinois (male). This is a coonhound mix. About 1 year old. Can you guys give me some advice about introducing the two dogs? Right now I have her in a laundry room with the door open and a crate inbetween the two of them. That way they can sniff and see eachother okay. The vet said to seperate for 1 week due to her stitches. She growls alittle when he gets near her now. The vet thought she haden't been feed in a long time. Photos below. Any advice would be great. As long as she gets along with my other one,w e're going to keep her .We've named her Karma.. Thank you.

Yes definitely keep them separated until stitches come out usually 14 days; When you want to introduce them put both on leash and collars, need to have 2 people would be easier then just let them meet on leash maybe out in your backyard. Then take your boy off leash see how it goes. Do this several times until "she" new girl will accept your boy. She is probably just not quite feeling herself; spaying is a major surgery. Let her earn her freedom and is they don't get along well you know what you have to do. Do not leave them unattended alone. Crate her or your boy and again she needs to earn her freedom. Walking them together also might help them to get acquinted. Since you do not know her history she may be a little fearful of him. You could walk them together a short distance probably as soon as she is feeling better and gains her strength back; she will probably tell you when she feels better. Good luck Nan

All I need to know is how are the baby's poops, Are they normal??

That doesn't look like any sort of coonhound, can you take a pix of her from the side? She looks more like a skinny shepherd.
Good luck with her, take your time and do not rush her. Dog fights really suck.
Hope she works out well for you.

PM-wonderful of you to take her in and keep her. Thank you.
Doesn't say to much for the ones that told you take her out and shoot her now does it.
Karma is a great name,
Dragonfly-a black and tan coonhound has them kind of markings.

While the color might be correct the coat is very different. Coonhounds do not have double coats. None of them. That dog in the photo clearly has a thick shepherd like coat. The tail is too think and the body is not houndlike at all. That a shepherd mix.
You could call a Rottweiler a coon hound because they are black and tan too i guess.

Seriously? A vet spayed and gave shots to a dog in that condition?

I thought the same thing.

Re: Eldee: My vet did a full checkup and she was okay other then completely starved. She has now had all her shots and her poop is solid. I'm feeding her what I feed my Mal---Blue Buffalo Wilderness for Puppies. My vet said this was okay.
