My rough collie puppy had demodex mange at 6 months old. The treatment that worked for me was dog accupucer, homemade diet and western herbs and she was cured 4-5 months and the mites are all gone now and she is 1 1/2 yrs.

Demodex can be treated by Ivermec, it can also go away all by its self.
Puppies imminity is weakend when they are getting thier vaccination, spay/neutered or sometimes its a phase they go thru.
Sometimes it comes back, sometimes it doesn't.

With Ivermec, the cure is within 30 days.

If you've found a holistic cure, that's wonderful!

Can you give Collies Ivermec.??

Thought it was dangerous to them

Yeah, no, generally not a good idea to use ivermectin in a Collie, especially while still a pup.  Milbemycin oxime [aka Interceptor] is reportedly effective against demodex mites, but the wouldn't have been of much help over this past year, when the product wasn't available.

Goodwinol Ointment is an ointment for the treatment of demodectic and follicular mange of dogs.
Goodwinol. Buy a big jar of it and rub it in really deep into the skin every day . Condition will get worse before it gets better . Be patient this will take few weeks.  STAY AWAY FROM  harsh and extremally toxic chemical dips like Mitaban and Atmitraz.

demodex in puppies often clears up on it's own. I'm sure any action taken that might boost the immune system is a positive.

my dad has an older lab that had it break out over a large part of his body. this happened 2 years in a row. treated with ivermec for 30 days both times.  it's been about 3 years and hasn't shown up again.

it's usually not an option for collies, so good you found something that worked.

Agree with Rik.  I would boost the immune system and/or look for the underlying cause.  It clears on its own with or without treatments.  If it started spreading (becoming generalized) I would look into treatment but otherwise my vet told me to leave it alone.  No reason to start introducing more chemicals when the dog's immune system is already down.

I would stay away from Armitraz/Mitaban stuff but I would not wait until it starts getting generalized! I have used Goodwinol without any ill effects. You can boost immune system with Echinacea root extract in alcohol only. Make sure that is root extract in alcohol only and not any other concoction.

Bought a DDR female pup that developed a generalized case of Demodex.  Gave her a bath in Selsun Blue, the human shampoo.  Cleared it up within a month.  It did get worse before he got better, but the thing is it was treated at home with no problems.  JMO and my experience.

EDITED TO ADD:  This female was placed in a pet home and was spayed.
