They're not the greatest pictures, but let's have a crack at this. I'll try to get some stacked shots the next time I have someone over to help out, and I can find a semi-bare spot on the ground that's not a foot deep in snow!
Do you think she's pure German showlines, or maybe a mix of American and German?

I see a german shepherd.

Definitely straight GSL. Good looking, too. :-) looks like some gray on his lips, so maybe three or four year old.

How'd he come to be a rescue?

100% GSD and looks to be well bred, she looks very playful, should be no problem placing her!

DUH! Okay didn't word that very well. Of COURSE she's pure GSD, but I was wondering if she was GSL or maybe GSL/ASL cross!

From details on the linked thred inc the fact she is tattooed,
and looking at her in these pics, I'd guess at an imported
German German Shepherd. So 'GSL' . Which brings me
to reitterate Joan's question: what the hell is she doing on
Rescue ?

She looks like 'all' GSL to me, and like one of the better bred ones.
I would dare say you might find a pretty decent pedigree attatched to her.
That is how I myself like the GSL to look.
Wonderful of you to go get her. I hope she works out well for you.
I am assuming you will be keeping her?

She looks like areally nice dog, Sunsilver. Glad you are able to give her a home....all good dogs deserve second chances. Kudos!!

Hundmutter, because as we all know, there are idiots in this word who shouldn't own dogs!
If you read my second last post in the rescue thread, you would have seen the details. This Chinese guy left her tied up on a property he owned to guard it. Only problem was it was too much effort for him to drop by daily to make sure she had food and water, so the Humane Society siezed the dog.
How he got hold of her, I have no idea. When I think about it, I am guessing he likely wasn't her first owner, as no breeder of dogs this nice would dream of selling a dog into a situation where it was going to be totally isolated and tied up. At least I hope not, but maybe I'm an optimist.
AC can't get much info out of the former owner because he speaks very very little English. I am going to see a trainer today (former members of my schutzhund club) to have her evaluated, as she has dog aggression issues. I am hoping it's lack of socialization, and can be fixed. Otherwise, she'll just have to be a kennel dog.
We wlll also have a go at deciphering the ear tattoo. Maybe...just MAYBE, I can get her papers!
I hope to keep her, and I think she's nice enough that she might be able to get a Canadian championship in the show ring, She has reasonably good hind angulation, and a fairly level topline. Of course, that will be IF I can get papers. (We still don't know if she's spayed or not.)
I certainly want to train her for schutzhund. But first, we have to get a handle on her wanting to charge at and bite anything with four legs that come within reach.
