Does anyone have any information/relatives of METPOL QUARTZ DAISY and MACK VOM HAUS VALKENPLATZ (imp ndi) ?

by Hundmutter on 22 February 2013 - 22:02
Mick49: Is Daisy at Keston, or somewhere else ? Tell me how old she is, too,
and I'll look her up for you in Breed Records. Have you tried putting either dam
or sire's names into Kennel Club Health Records page ? (I have not looked
but am assuming neither has a pedigree on here yet, and that you have checked
for that before posting ?). Is this a proposed litter or are these pups already on
the ground ?

Thanks Dawolf ! I would have been surprised if no entry for Mack,
just didn't have time to check it out for the OP. Looks like nice
ancestry, on paper at least. Hope the OP comes back ?

Hi Mick
Mack belongs to Tony Cronin, he should be able to point you in the right direction.

He does also own a bitch called Daisy who had a litter with Mack, though not the Daisy you have listed, could you have the wrong Daisy?

Hi Linda Swift
Thank you for your reply. Daisy is from Bridgend in Wales and she is 3 nearly 4 years old. I cant find anything on the Kennel club website but it is not the best website to navigate. Both dogs are registered on this website, however this will be our first GSD so mainly wanted peoples opinions on blood line history, dog history (ancestors) and breeder. This is a proposed litter of the above dogs.
Hi Margaret N-J
Thank you for your reply. We have spoken to Toni quite a lot on the phone, however as this is our first GSD we wanted to get other peoples opinions on the parents and breeder to help us make our decision. Toni has two bitches called Daisy. One has already had a litter with Mack last year (Daisy V Houthrack) but this will be the other Daisy's (Metpol Quartz Daisy) first litter with Mack. Whats your opinion ?

Hi Mick
Hard for me to give an opinion as I have not met either of the dogs, didn't even know about the Metpol Daisy. Since Tony tends to sell to police/prison service where they are likely to be unsung heroes, rather than sports where the name is bandied about, his dogs are not enough in the limelight to have much public knowledge about them, but as he does sell regularly to the forces and that kind of sale is generally by recommendation, I believe he has a good success rate and since he will be relying on recommendation and past performance, I doubt he would keep breeding stock that didn't deliver the goods. He seems to be a man of integrity so I don't think you would get a bad dog from him, but that would depend on what you wanted the dog for, one mans dream is another mans nightmare.

Mick: as far as Metpol Daisy's breeding goes, I see she is a Manus
Tierkehook daughter, which says to me that she is, as clearly intended,
probably good as either a Working Dog herself, and/or as a producer of puppies
with plenty of working capability. I note that she has two other well-qualified
males behind her in Gen.3 that the working side of the breed do value, Zidane
v Haus Sevens and Tom L'eefdehaal. So those are good signs. I have to
admit I know next to nothing about the history or quality of the Pepnick kennel.
However if she was from that combination of ancestry, she's probably a reasonable
'looker' from the conformation point of view also. The Police know what they are
doing, I think. They have bred some very nice animals over the past few years, not
to get dogs that are 'Show-y', but that are physically able to do the work as operational
K9s. In the best GSDs there is still an overlap in those two areas ! (Even if some
Show judges appear unaware of the fact !)
Margaret is right, of course, - it depends on what one wants to do with this litter. If
you are looking to buy one puppy from it for yourself, you could be well advised to
decide on the activity level you are going to put in, and take the breeders guidance
on selecting a pup that will fit in with you. If you 'only' want a pet, a less 'driven' pup
might be selected; if you are going to do Sports or Trials and you have had other
active working breeds, then a livelier one will be what you are looking for and can cope
with. If you are looking for a Show Dog instead (or 'as well', everyone dreams of having
a Dual Champion LOL), this breeding may well be less suitable, in terms of the way
the pups will possibly end up looking, and they may be a bit super-active.
A further word of caution: her pedigree page on here shows no results on her hips and
elbows, so you need to ask about that aspect before confirming you'd like one of her
pups.

Hi Linda and Margaret
Thank you both for your input it is really appreciated. You have helped us a lot. I can see Daisy's hip score of 12 and zero for elbows on the champ dogs website but we will make sure this is confirmed to us.
Margaret-once we have decided on a puppy and once they are old enough we would like to come for some training with you guys and possible boarding/training whilst away for 1 week end of September.
