Ok, so I am currently dog sitting for someone for the next few days. About two nights ago he started vomiting blood at which point I contacted his owner and the emergency vet. The vet told me that it would be alright for me to monitor him over night and as long as he didn't continue to vomit or show any changes in mood, I would not need to bring him in. The next day, he was acting perfectly normal and happy but I (along with the owner) was still concerned, so I did end up taking him to the vet just to get checked. Because he was acting fine, they didn't really do anything but give him a shot to settle his stomach and some antibiotics to help with any possible GI track inflammation. Now, I don't generally leave things lying around my house so I can't think of anything the dog could have gotten into that would have caused him to get sick like this. I even checked my one plant that I have sitting on the floor to make sure he didn't get to it just in case and there were no signs that he'd been there. Now, I did post my experience on a dog health forum to see if anyone had dealt with this at all and someone asked what dog food he was eating b/c there had been rumored cases of a commercial brand causing liver/kidney failure in dogs and that they had similar symptoms. When I said he was eating Purina Beneful they said that was the dog food and to check out the FB page. I did and sure enough, there are pages dedicated to this food possibly making dogs sick! I haven't done any additional research beyond that, but I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience as this and how you came to the conclusion that it was the dog food? Also, what are some good brands of dog food I can get for him in the time being and recommend to his owner? Thanks!

i had some litter mates a few (3) years ago who had some blood work,ETC and kidney/liver issues were brought up by the vet, after months of office visits 24 hour med schedules and shear anxiety/expense they died.
now 12/13 years old for my dogs is about 4 or 5 years to young.
historically for us dry feed was base line nutrition, and we customized as needed, activity being the driver. so then our working dogs when retired just socialized as they seemed fit to,and food more age specific.
these new feed issues are very disconcerting to say the least, grades, and food handling were really the only major concerns-post preparing our own recipes that i've seen in 40 years........

well, what are they going to do with all that gmo corn now that foreign countries don't want to buy it????
read up on gmo corn and what it does to the stomachs of the animals that eat it.  where are they getting
all that high fructose corn syrup that they seem to put in everything????  human food is just as bad as
pet food.  makes my hair stand on end.  :(
