He everyone I was wondering whether anyone can tell me when the gsd reaches his final structural conformation i.e. final angulation/gait. As I understand it, as the muscles, bones and ligaments form, changes can occur to the way the dog stands, walks and angulates. Is this true or is it set by the age of 8-9 months? As far as I have heard the dogs can fill out up to 2-2.5 years as they build up muscle.
The reason I am asking is because I feel my dog's gait and angulation has changed somewhat although he does still have a slight "toes/feet out" look to his front and back legs despite being 9 months old- or looks like a "ballerina" as my 12 year old daughter commented! He is from a top VA line and apart from that is perfect. He runs fantastically well with no problems either.Maybe that's his only-albeit- serious fault. Any comments.

I'm assuming you have a male. They tend to look terrible between the ages of 6 months until about 18 months. Guess why these classes draw so few entries in the show ring? Bitches mature faster than males. As long as his hip- and elbow X-rays are clear, just ignore his current looks and wait until he's older. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice pzdc! I suppose you're right the males can be a bit gawky as adolescents! Hopefully he should be alright
