I would really like to know where my gal came from but do not have any papers. If I pay for the DNA, will AKC be able to able to tell me sire and dam. Or do I have to pay an addl $40.00 for the evaluation. The dog is just wonderful other than her complete lack of ball drive
and this would be more for informational purposes for me when looking for a gal down the road.
I searched through the database but couldnt find anything.

No,
because you must have the parents DNA to compair to to confirm your dog is from both of those parents.
Bacically DNA testing doesn't work like you see on CSI. You would need samples from all possiable parenst to prove who your dogs parents. And since you don't know where the dog may have come from it's anybody's guess. If you have a dog of unknown parentage you could get her ILP registered if she is spayed. Which would allow you to compete in all AKC performance events but not Conformation.
Now if you could possiably find out where the dog came from you might, maybe get lucky and find out who her parents were.
Best of luck.
