January 10, 2012: Three teenagers were shot dead in an ambush in Philadelphia, CBS reported at the time. The 30-year-old suspect opened fire on four teens in a car, killing three and injuring one.
February 21, 2012: Jeong Soo Paek burst into a spa his family owned in Norcross, near Atlanta, Ga. He killed four relatives before turning the gun on himself, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported at the time. Police speculated that financial problems motivated the shooting.
February 27, 2012: A 17-year-old student, T.J. Lane, confessed to going into his Chardon, Ohio high school cafeteria and shooting students at random. Three students died and two were hospitalized, The New York Times reported. Lane said he stole the gun from a relative who had obtained it legally.
March 30, 2012: A gunman drove by and opened fire on a crowd of mourners outside a funeral home in Miami, Fla. Two people died and 12 more were injured, the Miami Herald reported. The mourners were gathered for the funeral of 21-year-old Marvin Andre, who also died in a shooting.
April 2, 2012: One L. Goh opened fire at Oikos University in Oakland, California. He killed seven people and injured at least three more. Goh was a former student at the school and was said to be angry that he was expelled for poor behavior, CNN reported.
April 6, 2012: Five African-American men were gunned down in separate incidents in Tulsa, Oklahoma, ABC reported. Police arrested Jake England, 19, and Alvin Watts, 32, and said that the murders were motivated by racism. Three men died and two were seriously injured.
May 29, 2012: Ian Stawicki went to a cafe in Seattle's University district, shooting and killing four people, ABC reported at the time. He then fled to a parking lot and shot another woman before killing himself. He wasn't thought to have known his victims.
July 20, 2012: James Holmes, 24, allegedly broke into a midnight premiere of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, Colo., killing 12 people and injuring roughly 60 more. Later, police revealed that Holmes, a doctoral student in neuroscience, spent $20,000 on ammunition and weapons.
August 5, 2012: Seven people died after gunfire broke out at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. The gunman, identified by police as Wade Michael Page, also died in the shooting. He was a white supremacist and the shootings were said to be racially motivated.
August 13, 2012: Three people including a police officer were killed in shootings near the campus of Texas A&M University. The alleged shooter, Thomas Caffell, was said to be obsessed with video games and was having financial problems.
August 24, 2012: Jeffrey Johnson shot a former coworker and injured nine more people before being shot and killed by police. The shooting occurred near New York's Empire State Building during rush hour.
August 28, 2012: Robert Gladden Jr., 15, allegedly brought a gun to Baltimore's Perry Hall High School and shot a fellow student, resulting in a critical injury. The boy's mom said he had been bullied.
August 31, 2012: Ex-Marine Terrell Tyler, 22, opened fire at the Old Bridge, New Jersey supermarket where he worked. He killed two of his coworkers before shooting himself in the head.
September 28, 2012: Andrew Engeldinge walked into his former office, Accent Signage Systems in Minneapolis, and "carefully selected" coworkers to execute. He fatally shot five people before turning the gun on himself.
October 21, 2012: Radcliffe Haughton, 45, bought a handgun and drove to a Milwaukee, Wisconsin, spa where his estranged wife was working. He killed three people, including his wife, before shooting himself.
November 6, 2012: Lawrence Jones, 42, opened fire at Valley Protein, the Fresno, California meat-processing plant where he worked. He killed two people and himself. Two more were seriously injured.
December 12, 2012: Jacob Tyler Roberts, 22, allegedly stole a rifle from a family friend and went into a Clackamas, Oregon shopping mall with "several fully-loaded magazines" of ammunition. He killed two bystanders before shooting himself.
December 14, 2012: A gunman opened fire at a Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. At least 27 people died, including 20 children, according to reports. That story is still developing.

On Friday morning, 27 people were reportedly shot and killed at Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown, CT. According to sources, 18 of these casualties were children. This is the second mass shooting in the US this week, after a gunman opened fire in an Oregon shopping mall on Tuesday, killing 2. ABC News reports that there have been 31 school shootings in the US since Columbine in 1999, when 13 people were killed.
The rate of people killed by guns in the US is 19.5 times higher than similar high-income countries in the world. In the last 30 years since 1982, America has mourned at least 61 mass murders. Below is a timeline of mass shootings in the US since the Columbine High massacre:
December 11, 2012. On Tuesday, 22-year-old Jacob Tyler Roberts killed 2 people and himself with a stolen rifle in Clackamas Town Center, Oregon. His motive is unknown.
September 27, 2012. Five were shot to death by 36-year-old Andrew Engeldinger at Accent Signage Systems in Minneapolis, MN. Three others were wounded. Engeldinger went on a rampage after losing his job, ultimately killing himself.
August 5, 2012. Six Sikh temple members were killed when 40-year-old US Army veteran Wade Michael Page opened fire in a gurdwara in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Four others were injured, and Page killed himself.
July 20, 2012. During the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, CO, 24-year-old James Holmes killed 12 people and wounded 58. Holmes was arrested outside the theater.

April 2, 2012. A former student, 43-year-old One L. Goh killed 7 people at Oikos University, a Korean Christian college in Oakland, CA. The shooting was the sixth-deadliest school massacre in the US and the deadliest attack on a school since the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre.
February 27, 2012. Three students were killed by Thomas “TJ” Lane, another student, in a rampage at Chardon High School in Chardon, OH. Three others were injured.
October 14, 2011. Eight people died in a shooting at Salon Meritage hair salon in Seal Beach, CA. The gunman, 41-year-old Scott Evans Dekraai, killed six women and two men dead, while just one woman survived. It was Orange County’s deadliest mass killing.
September 6, 2011. Eduardo Sencion, 32, entered an IHOP restaurant in Carson City, NV and shot 12 people. Five died, including three National Guard members.
January 8, 2011. Former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-AZ) was shot in the head when 22-year-old Jared Loughner opened fire on an event she was holding at a Safeway market in Tucson, AZ. Six people died, including Arizona District Court Chief Judge John Roll, one of Giffords’ staffers, and a 9-year-old girl. 19 total were shot. Loughner has been sentenced to seven life terms plus 140 years, without parole.
August 3, 2010. Omar S. Thornton, 34, gunned down Hartford Beer Distributor in Manchester, CT after getting caught stealing beer. Nine were killed, including Thornton, and two were injured.
November 5, 2009. Forty-three people were shot by Army psychiatrist Nidal Malik Hasan at the Fort Hood army base in Texas. Hasan reportedly yelled “Allahu Akbar!” before opening fire, killing 13 and wounding 29 others.
April 3, 2009. Jiverly Wong, 41, opened fire at an immigration center in Binghamton, New York before committing suicide. He killed 13 people and wounded 4.
March 29, 2009. Eight people died in a shooting at the Pinelake Health and Rehab nursing home in Carthage, NC. The gunman, 45-year-old Robert Stewart, was targeting his estranged wife who worked at the home and survived. Stewart was sentenced to life in prison.
February 14, 2008. Steven Kazmierczak, 27, opened fire in a lecture hall at Northern Illinois University, killing 6 and wounding 21. The gunman shot and killed himself before police arrived. It was the fifth-deadliest university shooting in US history.
February 7, 2008. Six people died and two were injured in a shooting spree at the City Hall in Kirkwood, Missouri. The gunman, Charles Lee Thornton, opened fire during a public meeting after being denied construction contracts he believed he deserved. Thornton was killed by police.
December 5, 2007. A 19-year-old boy, Robert Hawkins, shot up a department store in the Westroads Mall in Omaha, NE. Hawkins killed 9 people and wounded 4 before killing himself. The semi-automatic rifle he used was stolen from his stepfather’s house.
April 16, 2007. Virginia Tech became the site of the deadliest school shooting in US history when a student, Seung-Hui Choi, gunned down 56 people. Thirty-two people died in the massacre.
February 12, 2007. In Salt Lake City’s Trolley Square Mall, 5 people were shot to death and 4 others were wounded by 18-year-old gunman Sulejman Talović. One of the victims was a 16-year-old boy.
October 2, 2006. An Amish schoolhouse in Lancaster, PA was gunned down by 32-year-old Charles Carl Roberts, Roberts separated the boys from the girls, binding and shooting the girls. 5 young girls died, while 6 were injured. Roberts committed suicide afterward.
March 25, 2006. Seven died and 2 were injured by 28-year-old Kyle Aaron Huff in a shooting spree through Capitol Hill in Seattle, WA. The massacre was the worst killing in Seattle since 1983.
March 21, 2005. Teenager Jeffrey Weise killed his grandfather and his grandfather’s girlfriend before opening fire on Red Lake Senior High School, killing 9 people on campus and injuring 5. Weise killed himself.
March 12, 2005. A Living Church of God meeting was gunned down by 44-year-old church member Terry Michael Ratzmann at a Sheraton hotel in Brookfield, WI. Ratzmann was thought to have had religious motivations, and killed himself after executing the pastor, the pastor’s 16-year-old son, and 7 others. Four were wounded.
July 8, 2003. Doug Williams, a Lockheed Martin employee, shot up his plant in Meridian, MS in a racially-motivated rampage. He shot 14 people, most of them African American, and killed 7 before killing himself.
December 26, 2000. Edgewater Technology employee Michael “Mucko” McDermott shot and killed seven of his coworkers at the office in Wakefield, MA. McDermott claimed he had “traveled back in time and killed Hitler and the last 6 Nazis.” He was sentenced to 7 consecutive life sentences.
September 15, 1999. Larry Gene Ashbrook opened fire on a Christian rock concert and teen prayer rally at Wedgewood Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX. He killed 7 people and wounded 7 others, almost all teenagers. Ashbrook committed suicide.
July 29, 1999. Mark Orrin Barton, 44, murdered his wife and two children with a hammer before shooting up two Atlanta day trading firms. Barton, a day trader, was believed to be motivated by huge monetary losses. He killed 12 including his family and injured 13 before killing himself.
April 20, 1999. In the deadliest high school shooting in US history, teenagers Eric Harris and Dylan Kiebold shot up Columbine High School in Littleton, CO. They killed 13 people and wounded 21 others. They killed themselves after the massacre.

Jan 24, 2013 - Athens GA, 53 year old disabled US Army veteran (confined to a wheelchair) scares armed intruder after telling him to leave, he has a gun. The intruder fled the scene and was later apprehended by a K9 unit, he had a record of armed home invasions and felt the veteran would be an easy target
Jan 23, 2013 - Garfield PA , Armed and masked intruders broke into a residence by shooting the locks on the front door and breaking in. The homeowner was able to shoot both intruders as they fired at the residents of the home. The homeowner and another resident were non-fatally shot by the armed intruders, the homeowner managed to shoot one intruder fatally and the other is listed in critical condition. Both the homeowner and resident where listed in fair condition. The intruders had records for armed home burglaries.
Jan 23, 2013 - Rochester NY, Resident was able to scare armed intruders away with his AR-15 which he retrieved from his gun safe while the intruders had the other residents at gun point demanding money and jewelery. No shots were fired and the intruders were apprehended
Jan 23, 2013 - Indianapolis IN, An armed home invader woke a sleeping woman when he broke into her bedroom, she was able to retrieve her handgun and opened fire on the man chasing him away, the intruder had an extensive history of rape and armed home invasions
Jan 22, 2013 - Logan County OH, Ohio homeowner returns home to surprise armed invaders burglarizing his home, the homeowner has a CCW and drew his handgun ordering the two intruders onto the floor, he was able to call 911 and the two intruders were arrested and both had a long history of armed home invasions
Jan 19, 2013 - Oklahoma City OK, Female homeowner shoots 2 of 5 home invaders, the two invaders injured had records including rape, armed robbery, home invasion, and numerous drug related charges
Jan 17, 2013 - Indianapolis IN - Homeownder shot one man after being shot by 2 armed home invaders and held both of them until police arrived, both home invaders had extensive criminal records
Jan 17, 2013 - San Antonio TX, Homeowner confronts two armed robbers attempting to steal his SUV, when one of them raises his gun to fire at the homeowner, the homeowner shoots both armed men and held them until police arrived
Jan 16, 2013 - TX, A homeowner hold armed burglar at shotgun point until police arrive after finding the armed intruder inside his home, no shots were fired
Jan 16, 2013 - PA, Homeowner confronts intruder armed with a shovel in the living room after the intruder broke in through the kitchen door and shot the intruder three times in the chest killing him instantly. The intruder had a record of violent crimes

Jan 15, 2013 - Miami FL, A gas station clerk with a CCW was tipped off by a homeless man that two men outside his store had guns and were talking about robbing the station. Before the clerk could dial 911, the armed men burst into the store and began firing their guns, the clerk was able to shoot and kill one of the intruders and wounded the other who managed to flee the scene and was later apprehended
Jan 14, 2013 - TN, Homeowners managed to fire a warning shot and demand the home invader, who broke in through the glass patio door with his bare hands, to lay down on the floor until police arrived, toxicology results are pending on the home invader
Jan 12, 2013 - Delaware VA, Two armed men break into a woman's home and begin firing at her when she draws her handgun to defend herself. She returns fire and the two men flee, they are still at large, there had been previous rapes during home invasions in the area
Jan 11, 2013 - Central FL, A robber burst into a convenience store armed with a cattle prod and shocked the female clerk several times demanding money, the woman was able to draw her weapon between shocks and the robber fled, he was later apprehended and has a record for armed robbery and rape
Jan 10, 2013 - GA, Homeowner came home to find a man armed with a shotgun and burglarizing his home. The homeowner pulled his derringer and told the burglar to drop his weapon which the burglar did. The homeowner picked up the shotgun and told the burglar to lay down on the floor, the intruder rushed the homeowner instead, the homeowner shot the intruder in the chest, the intruder is listed in critical condition but is expected to live
Jan 10, 2013 - CA, Pharmacy owner shoots and kills one of two armed men who barged in the back door of the pharmacy and began firing into the store. The pharmacy owner and his mother took cover behind the counter where the pharmacy owner managed to get his gun and return fire striking one of the robbers multiple times, both robbers fled until the wounded one collapsed, the other robber is still at large
Jan 9, 2013 - Ohio, A new dad with his two month old son was parked outside his brother's home waiting for him when a man armed with a handgun approached the car and demanded money. The new father put his son on the floor behind him to shield him from the assailant who then puts his gun to the father's head demanding money. The father hands him his cash while reaching with his other hand for his handgun. He then shoots the assailant critically wounding him

Jan 6, 2013 - AZ, A suspect seen attempting to break into several homes was confronted by a homeowner after the home invader tried to break into the bedroom of the homeowner's young daughter. The homeowner confronted the invader who then reached for something under his shirt in his waistband, the homeowner feeling his life was threated opened fire killing the invader who had a record for home invasions and rape. This was recorded by the home security video camera
Jan 5, 2013 - Casper WY, A hotel clerk pulled her gun on two masked armed men who entered the hotel demanding money, they fled after seeing the clerk armed with an handgun
Jan 4, 2013 - GA, 911 recording captures the events when a mother and her two small children hid in the attic while the armed intruder burglarized her home. He then came up the stairs when he heard her talking on her cell phone to 911 dispatch, she shot the intruder hitting him five times, he is listed in critical condition, he has an extensive criminal record and was recently released from prison
Jan 4, 2013 - Miami FL, A homeowner shoots a naked man who had enterd his fenced yard and began choking his dog, the homeowner hearing the cries of his dog, grabbed his gun and confronted the naked man who then jumped on the homeowner trying to choke him, the homeowner fired his gun striking the naked man in the leg, the homeowner was able to subdue the naked man who has a criminal record and was most likely on drugs
Jan 3, 2013 - Sacramento CA, Homeowner defends self thwarts armed home invasion by shooting all three intruders after he was shot, he killed one and wounded the others non-fatally
Jan 3, 2013 - Canton, OH, Two armed men entered the store in an attempt to rob it in the middle of the day, the two men began firing inside the store, the store clerk drew his own weapon and returned fire, both intruders were struck by gunfire and fled the scene
Jan 2, 2013 - KA, A homeowner shot and injured one of two armed home invaders and held the other at gun point until police arrived

GSD IMO is trying to point out all the multiple people killed by guns etc. in a certain time frame.
Mindhunt IMO is trying to point out that in that same time frame hundreds of thousands of lives were saved by legal gun owners defending themselves.
One is pointing out perceived negatives.
One is pointing out perceived postitives of the gun.

I am worried about someone's mentally ill child wth access to an AR arsenal after they take their parents out. Something along those lines.
