HELLO ALL, I RECENTLY IMPORTED A YOUNG MALE FROM SPAIN INTO THE USA. HE CAME WITH PINK SV PAPERS, SO I CONTACTED SABINE AT THE SV TO GET AN EXPORT PEDIGREE AND BESCHEINIGUNG SO I CAN REGISTER HIM WITH THE AKC.  HOWEVER, SABINE SAID SINCE THE DOG WAS IMPORTED FROM SPAIN, NOT GERMANY, I NEED TO CONTACT THEIR REGISTRY FOR THOSE ITEMS.  HAS ANYONE HERE IN THE USA EVER IMPORTED A DOG FROM SPAIN, AND IF SO HOW DID YOU GET THE DOCUMENTS NEEDED TO GET YOUR DOG AKC REGISTERED?  THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP/ADVICE.

In 2001 a friend of mine imported a dog from Spain, and here is what she had to say about it.

"the SV could not issue the AKC Bescheinigung  since he came from Spain, making it worst (or better at the end) the seller never registered the dog I purchased in the  Real Sociedad Canina so they could not issue the certificate of ownership or export pedigree either that the AKC was requesting.  At that time they did not have the passport, do not have an idea if this changes anything.   In order to transfer my dog to my name and get the AKC papers I became member of the SV first.  Then I sent the SV a notarized copy of my dog's papers showing that I was the legal owner.  The SV issued a letter indicating that I was my dog's registered owner in their records and that they could not issue the formal  AKC Bescheinigung because the previous owner was residing in Spain. Finally after over a year going back and forth the AKC registered my dog in my name.  This took from October 2001 to January 2003!  Sabine Leib helped me with my dog's certificate then. Good luck to anyone having this problem!"

I imported a dog from Slovakia came with pink papers.  Funny I do not recall having any diffculty registering him with AKC  I just had to send copy of his foreign registry.  Maybe because he was also born in Slovakia it is a different process.Good Luck.

Export pedigree should be done by the PREVIOUS owner.
The seller has to transfer the ownership to you in Spain. Then the registry will send the appers back to the previous owner who will then mail them to the new owner..woalla! DONE!
