What do most use for box liners, I have used just newspapers in the past, when using papers is it best to put thepapersdown first then a liner on top like a bath liner, then more papers with the heating pad on bottom. thank you.

We use those very inexpensive, Moving Blankets, I think is what they are called, change them out every day, put 2 or 3 of them down doubled over, nice and cushy, absorbent, and Washable !

I use blankets - nothing stuffed with anything, just blankets I get for my kennels from Salvation Army. I usually put two down, and change/wash them as necessary. I've also used towels before - they get moved around too much and I don't like the puppies to be on the bare floor, even with newspapers. I do put a heating pad under the top blanket, so the puppies can be on it, near it, or off it as they need heat or not. I would use newspapers if the bitch tends to eat stuff in her kennel.

I used the fleece liners from Durawhelp (same as the jb fleece roll, but was wider. I put the paper liners under this for the first week to absord the extra discharge from the bitch. With the fleece, the top stays dry and they are easy to wash. I throw them down on the floor now in the puppy room - the rubber backing helps keep them down
In the whelping box I vleco the corners to keep the fleece flat in place.

I bought used quilted cotton hospital pads on ebay--they stay dry on top but have waterproof (but soft, not plastic) backs. They were about $4-5 apiece, can bleach, wash & dry. I really liked them--they are white and easy to tell when they need to be changed. I didn't need to put anything underneath. I needed about 4 (overlapped) to cover the large Durawhelp kennel.
