Yesterday, my boy was sent free. He had deteriorated over the few months. Before Christmas we saw the vet to see if we had to euthanize him.We wanted to make sure that we weren't selfish and keeping him alive just for us. The blood tests came back normal except proteine was a bit low (nothing to worry). The vet confirmed that Frisko wasn't suffering and he respected our decision. We decided not to do it before xmas. Frisko spent the whole month (Christmas and New Year) with us inside the house. But we saw a big change for the worst in the last week. He could hardly walk and in the last two days, he didn't want to stand up to eat; I had to give him food on the floor. He also pooped on the floor (not even knowing it). That was the sign. It is very difficult but we had to think of Frisko; what he wanted. May you rest in peace dear Frisko! Mommy loves you very much and I miss you dearly. Daddy lost his buddy but he knows you're in a better place, playing and running outside just the way you liked it.

Sad to see yet another older dog sucumb to DM. Shame it went downhill at
the end of the year; when you last reported in the fall, he was progressing
quite slowly. Still, you did the right thing at the right time for him; good that
he had a long life and a loving home. So sorry for your loss. Treasure the
good memories.

Very sorry for your loss. I know of nothing more heartbreaking than losing your heart dog. I lost mine over a year ago, the dog in my avatar.
Run free, Frisko........you are a good boy.

Don't know you, or your dog, but been there, done that, got the t shirt. Still brings tears to my eyes. At least you have the opprtunity to let him go with dignity. Never makes it any easier. Cherish your happy memories.
