I have just received word that former SV President Peter Messler passed away today. I do not have any further information.

So sad. I will miss this man. When I saw him in September, I kissed him good-bye, knowing I would probably not see him again. I am so sorry for Mrs. Messler and Nicki. I know how hard it is to lose a parent too early.

As is the case with anyone who is in a position of power, they will use the office to establish their own ideas. This will be their legacy if they are to have one. It would be interesting to hear how some of you feel Herr Messler used his influence as President of the SV. Do you think that he made any long lasting changes in the standard of the German Shepherd Dog. For better or worse. Are we influenced today in the way we breed or show? How about color or size? Did he affect those things in any meaningful way.

A good man who lost the war for his life. A man who had an excellent eye for Shepherds. One of our best judges. My sympathies to Niki and his family.
