Has anyone ever had this to happen? I have a now 11 month old female. She had her first heat at 9 months old (and it was a long full heat). anyway she is now going through something its not a heat, i see no signs of her coming into heat but for the last week now she is driving my male crazy. He says she is in heat.Even my 7 month old male says shes in heat, so I dont think its just my male. Has anyone here ever seen this? Do you think she needs a trip to the vet? What could this be? I am calling my vet first thing tomorrow(Monday) morning just wanted to know if anyone has ver seen this before. I have a dog show coming up and I want to enter both in it but may not be able to. Thanks for any advise.....

It could be a silent heat. Vet check wouldn't hurt. My female who was a year old in Sept had a light heat cycle in August and is having what is looking like a full normal heat cycle right now.

Silent Heat would be my guess, also. Basically if your male says she's in Heat, SHE IS IN HEAT !!! LOL. Don't ignore your males tattle tailing, If you do, Your gonna end up with puppies.

One of our girls did the same thing on her first heat cycle. Split heat, silent cycle but the boys were sure. She's been normal heats ever since.

I would go to the vet! One of my girls did this once and the male was crazy for her but she had a pyometra! Vickie

Thanks everyone for your reply. Here I though I got lucky and all my girls were over this for the winter. Now I'm stuck with one in the house in heat. Poor boy is going to go nuts before this is over.

Is there no discharge from the vulva to be seen? Is she licking the vulva? I would visit the vet in any case! There is a disease process known in young bitches with infection of the vulva/uterus.
