thought i would share a dog i owned whom i had pts years ago and i am positive DM was the reason after some research. Not sure how to embed his pedigree on here but he is on the pdb for those interested. FELS VON DER SCHOPF.

it was a long time ago... i thought i would share his ped for those interested/studying DM. Back then i thought it was extreme hd and a1 normal hips didnt mean squat...lol. he went from a limp to complet paraysis in his rearend in roughly 12mo.

So sorry for that;  man it took him down fast.  And unfortunately during those times they did not diagnois it and he was bred and produced some progeny.  Do you know if any of his puppies came up with DM?  Its a killer to watch isn't it;  I really don't want to see it ever again in my lifetime.

most of his progeny was in germany so cant really say but what breedings he did have hear in the states i didnt hear of any. yeah roughly 12mo is or so from first symptoms to total loss of his rearend. he was a helluva dog too. i really liked him

12 months is not unusual for DM to take a dog if it is not treated to slow the progression of the disease. Untreated, each stage of DM is 3- 6 months. :( Its a horrid disease!  I lost 2 to it, and it is traumatizing, as one ishelpless to achieve permanent remission :(
