Here is some x-rays of one of my bitches,  we had a tough time positioning her
she had her pelvis tilted, so one hip looked bigger than the other, she still
passed the evaluation for a normal rating...
The gray film is her second offical certification of fair, and the blue one is pre-limb Good....
Ya....Ya...I know crappy x-rays, but the gray one was while she was awake and she tensed up on the table,
we had to pry her body to lay flat, she was like "what the heck are they doing to me?!"

Oh, your girl will pass with a Good or Fair from ofa....

You paid for OFA-quality films.

That's not really what you got.  These should be re-shot so the pelvis is squared.

the angle of the rotation of the legs in the first xray makes the femeral heads look to be different sizes.
the second and third xray are total crap, but I would send in all 3 at the same time becasue they give different views.

IMO they will be graded as good.

Thanks everyone! I feel better having read these comments. I knew the positioning wasn't the best, but never attributed it to the smaller head. It did have me worried, but if OFA doesn't give a good rating I will just re-take them. Time to find another vet What Smile

Anyone know of a good one around Virginia Beach?

BTW, Mirasmom - interesting how alike the x-rays are between your girl and mine! Definitely seems to be the tilted pelvis. I just hope it wasn't a total waste of $300

Ramage,
I have many x-rays of my dogs both Shepherds and Labs,
some of them better than others.
Sometimes I think the dogs hips don't look great and they go & get a rating of good,
I wonder if  what I see is politics or my lack of knowledge trying to decifer these hip x-rays,
why some look crappy & go good while others look good and get a rating of dysplasticWhat Smile

Did you send these in?
If so, I think if you did, they get a rating of Good!

Happy New Year!!!

Good luckClown

Let us know the outcome.........Wink Smile

For those who are wondering, she went OFA Good :-)

Luckily, OFA didn't seem to be too subjective over the positioning.

Thanks for getting back to us!!

I love looking at hip x-rays.Clever

My pre-limb x-ray was $430.00 cause she was sedated,
the official one was $240.00 as she was awake.

Thank you for sharing!
