I have a 4, almost 5 month old show line. She is full of personality and fun but i want to start her in showing. When i want to gait her she begins to pull like a sled dog..... How do i fix that?

Feed her by hand using a clicker. --- Click .5 second later give food. Do this for a week.
Then say good and then click then feed..
Ask for more time in between the good and click/food reward.
When she scrambles correct her with quick leash corrections. Don't over do it.
When she gaits correctly say good and click food reward after just 2 or 3 good steps. Later, after 2 or 3 good steps say good and click/reward after 5 or 6 good steps..
As she starts to understand what you want, say good to encourage her and click/food less and less often. Eventually she will understand exactly what she's supposed to do and her encouragements and rewards can be reduced.
At her age, keep lessons short, she is young and easily strained.

The very best thing you can do for yourself and your dog is to find a good conformation class to attend; go weekly until you feel your dog can handle what is expected of him/her on your own. It will teach both of you; you will learn to handle and your dog learns to stack, gait, get his/her bite checked, having your dog gone over by strangers, some like it some do not. Also helps with early socialization and keeps your dog on its toes. Good luck Nan

handling classes DEFINATELY ! but if you want to show in "specialty shows" in the US -- pulling is expected !! you just need to get it under control.
I have just the opposite problem -- because my pup does both obedience and show classes -- he heels too far out on monday nights - and won't go farther out on Wednesday nights for show gaiting. I don't care at this point - I would rather he heel properly for obedience -- and trot on a loose lead for show -- but this drives the handlers crazy --- he is an "easy mover" and doesn't need to have faults hidden by the mad scrambling i see in the breed ring - and I'll have nothing to do with it -- if he ever wins anything - it will be on what a good judge sees -- not on what i can hide by tricks .
Good handling classes teach you a lo tooo - about your puppy - and different kinds of training tips -- different from obedience classes -- It's pretty amazing. my little guy is months old now and he's been doing BOTH since 12 weeks -- He is a totally different dog at handling class -- He knows it's different from the group on Monday - and he gets even more serious about showing off too--- right now - i go more because he likes it -- and he's getting better at it.
good luck with your baby -- do it as long as it's fun for both of you --
