pattern on roof of mouth - Page 1

How many of your dogs have pink and black pattern on the roof of their mouths?

Many dogs do.Some GSDs even have spotty coloration on tongues. It means absolutely nothing and is simply part of the genetic package each dog receives, just like coat color, skin pigment etc.

This is something I have heared from numourous sorces, that coloration in the mouth is a sign of good Pigment...I have found this to be true with my Goldens. Three of my five dogs have coloration in their mouths, and those three are the only ones that don't get "winter nose" (normally black nose turns pink in the winter). My other dog's noses turn pinkish-black, but not my Stud Dog, his daughter, nor his step cousin. My Stud's daughter's dam turns pink-black in the winter, and my stud's dam turns pinkish black as well. This pup happens to be black. Her dam is black and her sire is sable w/black backround. The dam also has pink and black on the roof of her mouth.She came from 2 black parents. Interesting thought Krista!

The dark spots are often thought to be indicators of strong pigment, but I cannot support that with any documentation of any type. Perhaps there is a bit of truth, as the puppies that I saw marked this way have a very rich black to their saddle and other markings. These "beauty marks" are often present in the ears, as well. Most of my GSD's have had black on their lips, tongue or roof of mouth. God do I laugh when people say they have Chow in them way back. NOt sure about my new pups mouth, I'm too affraid to get that close.

GSs that have dark pigments in the tongue carry genes for heavy pigmentation. however, I'm seen GSs who have them in their tongue and lack forehead markings.

The man u just sold a pup to, in our apt complex just showed us his gorgeous sable male u deliverd to him and he saw the spots and said Oh my you got screwed by Jj and I had to sleep on the couch last night because my husband is so mad at me for buying a dog from you and said never again will I bbe trusted to buy a dog" I exploded I told her I could trace every dog back to 1937 and told her everybody from Gal to N Tex knows what dogs I have bred and where they all came from. I said hold your h orses lady, heres Jane Steffenhagen's phone # and u get her on the phone and when u finish call me back ANd bye the way the Gr Sire Dax of the man in ur apt complex's dog has spots on his tongue also, so u better get him on the phone and while u have him on the phone tellthe sob that I havent got my $300.00 yet and Ill be breaking the other leg if i dont get it by next Friday. Jane said she probably had in excess of 2,000 of hers that had or have blk spots Its a sign of dominant BLK>RD Pigmentation The woman was stillnot convinced so I gave her Mrs Ravine in New Yorks phone and I never have heard from the woman nor do I want to I wish I knw what my gsd looked like Im sure its not a chow I ask her does it look like a chow, NO does it act like a chow, No , did u buy a chow , no , Well tell your vet hes a sorry CHow cHOW PACK HIM IN A JAR AND SEND HIM TO THE chOWchOW FACTORY,
