Our first Shepherd - Page 1

This is our very first shepherd.  My older brothers brought him home.  One of the local police officers who lived a couple homes down from us, bred his K9 service dog to another police dog.  The dog was given to my brothers as the pup was supposed to be the runt of the litter.  He actually grew up to be one of the biggest and brightest from that litter.  I cannot remember how many times the officer would come by the house and asked if we wanted to get rid of him.  My mother raised the dog the same way she raised us kids; except for the fact that the dog would be eating steak for dinner and we would be having hamburg.  There are at least a dozen stories if not more of what we did as kids with him.  I only really remember that he was a true protector of us and would never allow any of us or our friends come to harms way.  The photos are from 1964-65.
