My mutt, Coke, on Christmas Eve.  He went to the groomer last week (he has a crazy coat and is prone to hot spots and irritated skin so I get him lion cuts) and they put a Christmas bandana on him.

My holiday photo of Nikon and Coke.  Nikon was pissed because he wore that very same sweater 4 years ago when he was 4 *months* old so you can imagine how well (or not!) it fit.

Last week on my husband's last day of school (he teaches second grade) I dressed Coke as Santa and brought him to school.  He got a hedgehog toy for his efforts.

Some other holiday-esque dog photos......

Nikon at his watch post on the couch

... Coke at the other end of the couch

Nikon on the couch....sense a theme here? lol

Coke and my mother in law

The dogs with their Christmas presents from a friend (with a gift card, each dog got a bully stick and new favorite toy - Nikon a Bad Cuz and Coke a unstuffed animal)

My attempt at Christmas bokeh!

VK :  very pretty photos - you are big on Chrissy Trees, aren't you Teeth Smile;
thanks for sharing.

So is Coke your 'mutt' really a mutt or just a soft-eared GSD ?
Any 'cross' isn't obvious ?  Or is this one of the 'mutts' that are just
mixed WL & SL ?

Thanks! LOL I'm now collecting those ceramic trees.  I'm too young for when they were popular the first time, now it's sort of a kitschy thing to collect.  My mom volunteers at a place like Goodwill so she pulls them aside for me.

Coke is a true Heinz 57 mutt.  His mother was mostly white with brown patches.  Based on the only picture I found of her, she looks like a Collie - Great Pyrnese mix.  The father is unknown but possibly a mix so Coke is for sure at least 3 different breeds.  The mother was pregnant in the county shelter when a rescue pulled her and raised the litter.  We actually adopted Coke when he was 1.5.  Whoever adopted him as a puppy had to return him so the rescue took him back and I found him on PetFinder.  He has a brother in his litter that is basically identical, but a few others have more white on them and look more Collie.  I'm not sure if there is any GSD, he doesn't act like a GSD at all.  He sometimes acts like a Great Pyr and he is very tall and carries his tail curled up and over.  I've heard Rottweiler people say he acts like a goofy Rott but I've never had one so I don't know.  Interestingly, the inside of his mouth and tongue are purple.  Not the black spots GSD people freak out over but solid purple, which I guess might suggest something like Shar Pei.  Coke has an insane coat.  The top of it is sort of like a long coat GSD, though the other day I was petting him and found some top hairs on his back that were almost a foot long.  His undercoat is so dense that his coat basically stands straight out.  Most people think he's like 90lbs but he's only 65lbs.  If I don't groom him, his ears, feathering on the front legs, and "pants" area get a foot long and very stringy.  The coat on his tail and pants is all long and very thick and coarse (no soft undercoat there).  It is impossible to keep up with grooming him even though he doesn't mind brushing, so I have him lion shaved.  His ears are definitely dropped, the bases are weak and soft like a lab, definitely not GSD ears that didn't stand.
