My opinion forget the titles and pedigree and take a look at your own dogs. Do they have the drive, structure, nerves, temperment and physical ability to work?
Forget the separate lines, colors, titles, conformation etc. Either your dogs have been breed to have these traits or not.
So if you show your dogs and have beautiful color, great conformation and they have the above traits you should be very proud of yourself.
Same as if you breed for working ability you should still have all the above.
Just my opinion as I sometimes get tired of show vs work lines. :)

I agree DR but don't dare compare the working lines to the show or the show guys will have a stroke.

when I first got my two dogs and looked at their pedigree i did not know what I had after 4 years in clubs in Houston and Dallas I learned a lot wanted to keep the hard drive, good grip, clean, clear head easy to train except for the release which I had major problems being a novice and so when I moved to east texas after my male got stolen I found the Pirol son and started with my girls that two of them had come out of two Tiekerhook breedings and a male I kept from one of those. I had and have pups that at 3 weeks and 4 weeks are barking at noises grabbing the mop and will not turn loose at 4 -5 weeks old but have the kissed of n angel and love people but make a move with a tug stick or foot shoes or arm and the games begin I have loved every minute of my steffenhaus and uran wildsteigerland mix into my first two lines as well as adding the tiekerhook which I have to be careful with many reasons, but this has been a careful long expierence with feedback from m pups all over texas as to how they turned out Many have started in clubs but because of cancer n lost jobs deaths and everything else I only have one in the Seigelville WDclub near dallas and one in Bayou Vista I did not take anyone elses advise just studied and jumped in Ive been chewed out by several German judges that came to our club events, watched our work and evaluated our dogs, for not working my dogs I only was working two at that time but had kept 3 out of 3 litters and never even bred those 4 They went with me everywhere protected me showed off for me and kept me busy for 8 years I have their three sisters offspring bred to my new studs and now have one more addition to the family I am proud of what I have bred and have given a lot of people some hard working beautiful sables and blk/rd gsds I now have a black girl and not quite sure where im going with her and a new bi- working in the Alvin Tex club Her mom is show and her dad is Lago v Orkstern work mom is Iska Kapbush so it can be done Myah is 7 mos and non stop like Lago He is so high drive thats why his owner bought Iska to mellow the line according to him. We will see Intend to see her titled as my partner is a lot younger than me and she will title her at least thats the plan,,,,,

Thank You
No comparison at all. That's my point. Regardless of what you are breeding for, Show,Sport,Police,SAR,Agility, protection, pet, etc. a GSD should have the above mentioned traits. As you breed to be the best in your field don't lose even one of these traits.
