Protection training - Page 1

Are their schoools that train ppl to protection train, how do ppl learn this skill

There are hundreds of schools/locations that would offer this type of training.   I would suggest talking to others within your club, breeder, network to find out where they have gone or quite simply, google it.  I would also suggest that you put as much time into selecting a school or trainer as you did in selecting your dog.   If you could also provide your location, I'm pretty sure there are people on the board that can offer you some suggestions.

I think if protection training was a thought from the beginning then more time should have been put into selecting the dogs.

Well i am learning certain rules to PP with my GSD from the lacol Sheriff and police. 
          Rule#1 When your dog bites someone if they don't need stiches or staples it's not a bite.
          Rule#2 Revert back to rule #1.

I can show you pictures of bites that did not require stitches or staples but were absolutely bites.  When a strong dog grabs a suspects arm and crushes with a full mouth bite the result is some punctures and lots of pain and swelling.   It is called a severe unilateral hemotoma.  When the swelling goes completely around the arm and it swells to the size of the persons thigh.   No stitches needed, most definitely a good bite and immediate pain compliance.  Generally, it is a bad idea to stitch a dog bite anyway.   

There are no "schools". What do you want to learn, Supa?
Do you want to become a decoy or do you want to learn how to train your dog for Schutzhund/PP ?
It´s not only about protection work, you need to learn a lot about obedience, too.
No protection without obedience...
The only way to learn is to join a good club and to ask for help.
People in these clubs may need some time until they will trust you.
A club is a kind of "give and take".
Training a dog you´ll learn by training your own dogs and watching others while they train their dogs.
You need a special feeling for dogs, and a lot of experience.
Some people never get it, you need to try, otherwise you´ll never know.
There are no 2 similar dogs on earth. The more dogs you train or at least watch during training, the more you will learn.

let me go a lil deeper
1. IMO shutzhund is not protection
    a. shutzhund is a game to a dog, protection is not
2.IMO u can not protection train your own dog, due to the fact that u have to rewire your dog(all beings r hard wired in with a {when threatened ....run complex}
    a to truely protection train ur dog u have to have it in fear of its saftey and teach it to still attack until called off or death
3. due to #2 i will never wanna protection train my own dog, but maybe later train dogs that i have reed and want to sell to ppl who want such

I would want to know how to traine them so i will understand on a deeper level whats going on, b4 i have mine trained
 @ this point i dont know if shutzhund, interest me, im pretty sure "SHOW" doesnt, maybe TRU protection does......I KNOW THE GSD DOES, and im just trying to find my niche

VERY............WHEN A ARMED CRACKED OUT person hits this so calle shutzhund bog in the head with a brick will it think"this games aint fun anymore" and run, or is this game worth its life to it. GERMANS IN GERMAN HAVE TOLD ME THAT ITS A GAME TO THEM, and they train the TRU protection DOGS VERY DIFFERENTLY
