Who is Tom's sire. I have been told there are 2 different pedigrees that has his sire as two different dogs.  So what is the truth? Is his sire Cordon or not?

by Gustav on 10 December 2012 - 22:12

Tom born 1997 (Grim z Ps x Klara z Ps (1994), there is at least 5 Klara's

i noticed a lot of dogs named after famous dogs - is this cashing in or honouring???

very confusing for newbs who think they are getting a son of a really famous dog or have him in their ped when it is an imposter of a dog that died a decade earlier?

by Hukka on 10 December 2012 - 23:12

Well, they were all Tom z Pohranicni straze just born in different years and different parents. They also were all police dogs. I have seen the Tom's from 1994 and 1997. Liked both but favored the 1994 Tom. The young Tom (1997) died of bloat at fairly young age, think he was between 5 and 6 yrs. old. The Tom from 1994 has the most breedings and progeny.

OH THATS CRAZY!! What Smile I agree with vk4gsd.  Could very misleading, and disappointing.  I would hate to think that someone name their dog for the reason of "cashing in".  As for honouring, I think if it was a son or grandson, I would see it as, honouring.

There is a picture posted on Tom born in 1984, that is incorrect picture. Tom zPs ev.c.1630 was solid black dog, not sable.

OK, not to be stupid, but I know that AKC will NOT name two dogs the same name, so there is no confusion.  What registry would allow more than one dog to have the exact same name, and why?  Seems like an accident waiting to happen, so to speak.

If we are talking of Tom z Pohranicni straze, it is a Czech registry. I really don't see the problem, they all have about 10 years between them and different parent's and registration numbers and tattoo numbers. People just have to pay attention and not assume they are all the same.
