If you want to stop the stealing behavior, give her something to carry before you start your walk, like a small tug. I've worked with
dogs that were horendous on lead (not saying your girl is :) and once given the job of carrying something, it was like night and day.

Mine only steal each others toys and nylabones, but our "walks" are runs next to the quad, so no time to stop and pick anything
up.

Big smile and laugh.   Just wait until your puppies start stealing from each other.  It is hilarious to watch.

SupaK  get off your phone and watch her better ! Regular Smile  Seriously,  its not unusual for
pups, even older dogs, who have some natural affinity with retrieving skills to
do this.  Good. You can build on that in her training;  much better than having to
teach a dog to pick up & hold things in the first place (I can say from experience Roll eyes).

Do be careful though; dogs which like picking stuff up can get hold of things with
sharp edges or muck on them or something that you wouldn't want them to have
in their mouth.

Where did you find a yard in Germany with a soda can in it?

Maybe she's just a recycler!

yard in germany with soda can,,,,,,LMAO very tru, im speakin on the mil base(i dont walk her off post to much, cause germany love their dogs to deaf, and everyone wants to touch her, and that makes it hard for her to keep her  focus/ right now im trying to nail home the difference in a walk, and leash playtime) lol, on phone, normally when she has something and i dont know its a big (obviously small enough to miss) rock, the soda cans, i c it, but it really doesnt hurt anything so i just let her, just to see how long shell carry it. recycler.... its funny to watch ppl look @ me funy (like im a litter bug) when she does drop it, i look back like it never was mine, and she helped by movin it closer to the trash can.....stealing from each other, their worse..... Toska has her adult teeth and loves to chew, so soft toys only last about 5 min. Tyson has puppy teeth and hard toys make his mouth bleed........They have seperate toys.  Until tyson gets a lil more size i dont let them play together that much, i alternsate, free time, and some times their both out tethered up.   toska like to throw her toys just out of his reach so he will go crazy and get in trouble.... or tyson will puppy bark @ toska until she SUPER WOOFS back..... they like to get each other in trouble its TOOOOO FUNNY

Ok, that explains it.  I've never seen any trash of any kind in a German's yard.

You should probably get her a hard rubber ball on a rope to carry around...I had a female that did this and wore her teeth down carrying rocks.  As a bonus, the ball will come in handy for training...in fact, get two...you'll need them. Gappay and Frabo both have nice ones as do a couple of other suppliers.
