Okay My dog is doing ok just need to try another steady food. The probiotic i have her on is very powerful and seems to get rid her eye goo and her stools are looking better for sure for the past while since i got rid of royal canine.

My dog had trouble with natural balance in the past BUT I NEver tried the duck and legumes it was always the sweet potato ones.

SO do you think trying the legumes one is worth it?

HEre is acana duck and barlett

Ingredients

Duck meal, deboned duck, steel-cut oats, peas, whole pears, whole potato, duck fat, duck liver, sun-cured alfalfa, oat flakes, algae meal (source of DHA, EPA), pea fiber, whole apples, sweet potato, pumpkin, butternut squash, parsnips, carrots, spinach, cranberries, blueberries, kelp, minerals, vitamins, chicory root, juniper berries, angelica root, marigold flowers, sweet fennel, peppermint leaf, lavende

ALso can switching foods cause eye goo? she didnt get eye goo till she switched form royal canine to the acana but then it went away when i added a probiotic. Now she looks beautiful again. Nice ears, nice coat, nice feat and nice stools. BUT i think it is the probiotic.

Hi there,

The first difference I noticed between the ACANA type and Nature Balance type you posted here is that ACANA is a grain and Nature Balance is a grain free type of food.
Only concern that I would have with this type of Nature Balance food is that in my own opinion for some reason does not contain enough meet content. Yes, meat is a first ingredient in the form of meal but that is where the meat ingredients stop.

I don't think that sweet potatoes in ACANA type food would be causing the eye goo in your dog as they are listed really down on the ingredients lists (13th spot).

Personally I was feeding my dog initially ACANA Large Breed Puppy formula, and he did have some issues with his stool being inconsistent (soft, runny, etc.)
In my case I was not sure if this was caused by the chicken in this formula or by some grain type (in my case also oats). So I decided to switch him to a grain free ACANA formula - Pacifica.
With this switch I avoided all together the poultry meets and grains. My dog is now on his 5th bag of ACANA Pacifica, not showing any issues with his stools (they are fine). His coat is shiny, ears are clean, and no any unusual discharge from his eyes.

Hope this helps you somewhat.

Read about the new food called Back to Basics. Top ingredients are nutrient rich dense organ meats.

I tried it not too long ago. The garbonzo beans caused a big allergy in my dog and IMO beans do not make a food grain free. To me advertising as such is a lie and crappy. Cant recommend it Thumbs Down

why not try the Acan grain free formulas???  I would call NB and find out the phosphorous levels on their formulas.  I believe the packaging says minimum of .8, but lentils are pretty high in phosphorous.  that particular issue is just in the front of my brain right now as I am dealing with a senior with kidney issues.  I feed the Acana fish fromula(pacifica) when I forget to take raw out to thaw.....
