Only trial at your house where your dog can track.  I'm sure your dog's obedience and bitework is also better at home.  You must have one of those 300 point dogs on your home field.

do you track him outside your home? If not, maybe you should start.....just a hint?

Wow, this crowd is tough. Agree with the question of whether you track in random places, or just stay strictly at home. Also, ask yourself what is different. Length of line, prep, no food, flags, etc. You should always do a "trial" run before the actual trial. Obviously you are not beyond a 1, so you lay the track, but having someone else lay a track doesn't hurt. Don't let these bullies scare you. Most people on here are nice, like myself.....

Also, do you track by yourself, in solitude without any other people and dogs around?  If so, you need to start tracking in a busier location, too, so your dog learns to keep his focus on the track and not get distracted by everything going on around him, as is the case with trials.

Maybe your dog just doesn't like you.

I prefer busy places like mall parking lots, streets and apartment complexes.  If your dog can track there then the trial field will be real easy.
