You have been recommended by other members of this board. If you haven't read my other posts, I am a disabled woman searching for a reputable, preferably local breeder who might be able to assist me in finding a suitable young adult dog to be trained for service work. I am located in New England. I am happy to answer any questions and have plenty of my own, if you don't mind. Thanks

I don't know of any breeders that breed for servie dogs. however. the helper at my club, ray jeffers has a brother to a dog that is a service dog to some extent. I know his owner is in a wheel shair but how much the dog is able to do, I don't know. I have seen them at several events and he I'd very stable, and seems to know and enjoy his job. I can find out who the breeder is and let you know. she lives somewhere in california.

There are several dogs from my program working as handicapped service dogs. Others have been tested as very suitable. You can contact me at eichenluft@aol.com, I am happy to answer any questions you have if I can.

Thecowboysgirl, I cannot recommend anyone in your area, as I live in the southeast. Come to think of it, I don't know anyone in my area that trains this type of dog.
Follow the advice of Wscott00 and Eichenluft. In my opinion it is best to get a young dog whose temperament and drive level is proven correct for the tasks he/she must perform, as this animal needs to easily bond 100% with you.
