Bob-O was reminiscing with me about the early SchH scene in the USA. I wonder if he or anyone else remembers Vernon Crowder, a blind sportfriend who competed with his SchH3 GSD. He was the pride and joy of the Los Angeles (San Fernando Valley area) Schutzhund set and went through his paces with a personal guide at his elbow. I lost track of him also and a few years ago, I found a reference to something he did in Hawaii that again made me very proud of him. Apparently he was traveling to Hawaii on vacation with his guide dog and the authorities there wanted to quarantine his dog for two months or so, as was the policy then on all incoming dogs (rabies control measures). Vernon challenged this in court and got the rule changed, so that those persons assisted by guide dogs could take their dogs straight in with them. I thought that was very interesting and it made me feel real good to see that he was still pitching for our dogs.

Don't know him, but do remember the article in the magazine and thought he was amazing. What an inspiration, just one of those people who will leave their mark on this world in a big way!

How interesting. He sounds like a person worth knowing at some point. Things you don't think about, service dogs entering countries, or states, with quarentines. Thanks for sharing the information.
