Ive called a lot of vets here in the Richmond Va area asking if they sold K9 Advantix, because, as stated in an earlier post, they also repel. Not a single vet carried K9 Advantix and thier reason to why was that Frontline in better. Is this true? Has anyone used both and found one to better than the other? Or were they just trying to sell me what they had on the shelf? Thanks

I prefer Frontline to all the other products I have tried. IMO it works the best for fleas and ticks, and bonus is, it's waterproof. molly

I use Advantix all the time on my dogs. I keep them in the house and have never found a flea on animals or in my home. I use it year round. Probably 7 years now on all my dogs. Not saying they never get a flea but I've never seen any. I used Frontline and bought Bio Spot one time just till I got to my vet then go right back to Advantix.

I have tried both and Front-line is superior and lasts longer. K9 Advantix when the dog is in the water a lot in summer does not work nearly as well.

I use Bio Spot.Does anyone else use this? Bobby you don't want to use bio-spot- honestly, you're just wasting your money, but also, those grocery-store sold brands are potentially dangerous k9 advantix is a great product- it not only kills fleas, ticks, & mosquitos, it also REPELLS them, so the likelyhood of say, a tick, transmitting a disease is far less... personally, i find it very oily & the doses are copious in volume- but i've used it when taking my dogs into the woods (say in n. carolina) frontline topspot is also a great product- both do wash off, despite what it says on the labels (just call the manufacturers & they'll admit it) otherwise, i use revolution & have no problems personally with fleas or ticks.

I have used Bio Spot for over 7 years and haven't seen a flea or tick since I have been useing it.Funny that you should mention walking in the woods in N.C..That's exactally where I walk my dogs. Foster and Smith had a chart comparing the leading brands.I don't remember all of the specifics but that helped me make the decision to use it based on being water proof and what it would kill. Now I just use it because it has proven that it works just fine. Personally I use Frontline but my dogs are inside most of the time. However, in my college Parasitology class, we learned that the tick/flea population evolves and can become immune or resistant to one type of chemical, and if that happens you will notice that your type is no longer working and you should switch... but that doesn't mean that the product you use isn't any good (unfortunately some people in nearby areas are saying that Frontline doesn't work anymore - that is why).

I have never liked the idea of putting pesticides on my dogs. I worked as registered pest control technician for several years. Some of the same chemicals we used that were hazardous & toxic to humans are the same chemicals we are putting on our pets. I would not use this poison on my dogs unless I have no other options, especially all year long. I don’t care what vet tells me it is 100% safe to use on dogs (or cats), I don’t believe that at all. Some may find this interesting. http://www.apnm.org/publications/resources/fleachemfin.pdf HAPPY TURKEY DAY!!!!!!!
