Somebody who know how to treat this disease, pads on my dog got too dry and cracked. Know he is lucky because vet said that he has not got the worse he got light but anyway ?  I tried know omega 3 he seems too be little better.Did anybody asked him/she her self why it s so difficult to get an healty dog  and I see the proffesionals of the breed showing colours exterior looking looking and looking but guys dont you see tha breed is not healty this days.  What are you going to do about it, we are talking all the time about hip and elbow but what about stomach they are sensitive and what about skin the breed have skin problems.
Do somebody follow some statistics about the champions who mate over 500 bitches, many famous dogs died young do we know what kind of diseases? You will destroy the breed if you mate with one dog too much I mean mix mix mix, but I forgot money talks. I hope you could read my english. bye

What on earth is wrong with you Goran...... why dont you ask for info from the many many people on this board that beat vets into cocked hats on sensible remedies and answers instead of coming on here and getting all stroppy.

Tell me.   This is an odd question, but when your dog gets an outbreak of this does his coat and skin in general smell, sort of b.o. ?   I am asking for a particular reason.     Mo.

Yes Goran, I too have had a lot of disapointing health issues lately. But the only way to fix it is to only breed the very healthy ones, & everyone has a rationale why they should breed their dog, even though they have this problem or that difficulty. Each must start with their own, & honestly only breed those that pass the strictest health requirements. As far as skin issues go, I think maybe some kibbles exacerbate those. Try adding fish oil to the diet, or feeding canned salmon a couple times a week, some folks swear by this. Good luck, hope your baby feels better soon! jackie harris

Goran the reason I asked about the smell of the coat and skin condition is that a friend of mine had a female that had this condition diagnosed by the vet, and it turned out to be EAR MITES  !!!   No dont fall around laughing !!   What she was doing is scratching her ears and the ear mites were between her pads and toes and setting up a real bad fungal infection.   She used Thornits Powder in her ears, and mostly and very important, in a little pastic bag, she put some thornit powder and dipped the dogs foot in there and shook it around - this complaint that the vet had diagnosed was gone within two weeks, so was the fungal smell, and it has NEVER returned.   It was a very simple and inexpensive solution.

Always have Thornit on hand for Spaniels, best thing around. Don't tell your vet though not all of them aprove of this magic powder.

possibly because they cant make squillions of money on selling it Bazza.    Mo.
PS - what sort of Spaniels do you have?
