I'm thinking of putting up two kennel runs in my yard for my German Shepherds to stay during the day. Is there any particular ones that ya'll have had success (or failure) with? I'm planning on a covered run, and some type of concrete or surface that they can't dig in, because they're definate diggers. Would love some recommendations!

The best ones I have built are on a wooden deck, kennels are welded wire, roof is corrugated aluminum. Clean and dry dogs, plus wood is easier on the
joints then concrete :)

Thanks! Yea I was worried about using concrete with hips, but I have diggers :( I'll look into that!

I have never had one dig out of a kennel run with rubber stall mats under it. Concrete leaves ansty callouses on limbs. I cover the mats with fluffy shavings and cover the top with metal roofing, close in the windward sides with traps or wood, and give them igloos to stay cosy here in northern CA.

Agree with Melissa regarding wooden kennel decking. Absolute best. If you raise it a few inches off of the ground you can put lime/gravel underneath. Light bleach mixture weekly or monthly depending on the climate keeps the mildew away.
User name "country boy" on here makes great kennels. Not cheap, but look great and the people I know that have them say they last forever.

Shelly, my boy Nero likest to move the stall mats around his kennel and still digs. He nearly ripped one of them in half.
