Does anyone know of an experienced vet for hip/elbow x-rays in michigan? Was going to have Dr. Mostosky do it but it looks like I'm going to have to find another vet. Kurt

I use Dr. Kirkland at Wayside Vet Clinic in Clinton.  He is very experienced in doing official and unofficial prelim xrays.  Plus he is very fair priced.  I think I paid $85 for hips and elbows last week.  Most people I know in SE michigan use him for xrays.

Dr. Lee at Nortwood veterinary Hospital in Anderson, IN is a pretty well known and respected ortho guy if you want to travel that far.  Plan in advance...I think he's spending a lot of time travelling nowadays.

Dr Bob Jackson at South Kent Vet in Caledonia or Dr Jim Bader at Mapleview Animal Hosp in Holland or Dr Main in Allegan

I started using Wilson Veterinary Hospital (http://www.wilsonvethospital.com/reproductive.html) when I bred my older female this year.  I've been amazed at their knowledge, skill, reasonable prices and the fact that they are open 7 days a week(!!).  I recommended them to another Schutzhund club member and they also had a great experience with them.  I have not used them for elbows/hips before, but I will use them when I do elbows/hips on my pup that was born this year.  With their full range of repro services, they are one-stop shopping for the serious dog person and I would expect to get a true result from their hip/elbow studies as well.

vom eisenhaus, if you're going to drive a couple of hours anyway to have the films done, I think it makes more sense to just go to MSU and have them done there.  Their fees have always been very reasonable when I've had diagnostic films done, so I would expect they'd be no different for routine certification films.  I'll probably just have my regular vets do Rykkah's when I have her spayed this fall, but if I were doing them as a stand-alone procedure, I'd make the drive down to the school for them.
