ive come across a lot that feed RAW (though im far from the most knowledgeable in here) im an american, that is RIGHT now in GERMANY, ive been to a few, and all over the germany internet, as obviously i have a german ip add, i get google searches results that others dont........ my puppy was on happy dog, from the breeder, (they actually gave me a 15k, the big bag) beacuse i didnt ness like that food, and i know gsd's have funny stomachs i wanted to switch my puppy over to a better food well b4 i get home, also a food that i will b able 2 find @ home (most) pet stores here have an american food aile, then ok, good, better, best ailes, i went with royal canin, it aint cheap, but seems to be pretty good, and its something i can find her and home when i get there, the have a gsd 40, formula for gsd dogs up to 15 months, works for me

SupaK you'll find lots of ppl on here don't like Royal Canin.
They say it is too full of additives.  Myself I found it perfectly
satisfactory when I was using it ;  unlike say Eukanuba which
there was lots of evidence for problems with the wheat content
etc  all over the Net, I could not actually find anything substantive
- just lots of personal opinions from haters.  My opinion RC is
certainly one of the best complete kibbles in its price-range
[no I don't own shares in the co !Tongue Smile]

Gautam I have heard about German kennels using Royal Canin;
and Marcus Muele;  and several other completes, most of which
you can probably buy overseas.  I expect the Germans are just
like the Americans and us Brits - some will swear by cheap kibbles,
some by expensive versions, and some will insist on feeding raw.
You just have to go with what you find suits your dogs best, and is
easiest to manage for you.

@ hund, yeah i know how the web can be, 1 person says something and ppl run wit it, im prob godda switch to blue buff wilderness when i get home, my thing was finding something in germany that i can find anywhere in USA, when i come home, it will be enough to deal wit movin back, dont need the extra hassle of (and stress on poor ole doggy) switchin foods right away

Royal Canin appears to be widely available in the US, SupaK, so no probs there.
Yeah, its really weird its got this - quite wide - poor rep;  reading the sides of the
packs it doesn't seem to be stuffed with reclaimed meat / fillers / chemicals;  but
some of the comments online were really nasty.  Not very logical or informative,
just nasty.

Optimum condition, or how a dog finally 'turns out'  does not rely solely on the foodstuff.  Genetics, environment, good husbandry, correct exercise and stimulation and correct quantities of a food which suits that particular dog, all contribute to maximising any dog's potential.  To skimp on any of those elements that can be controlled is to lose the opportunity to get the best dog you can get whilst you have the opportunity to influence those factors whilst they are young and growing, but there is no single 'magic bullet' in the form of a food or supplement that will 'shortcut' that whole 'package'.

Yes I am also feeding my dogs RC GSD Adult. They are doing good and finish their bowls in less than 2 minutes. I dont follow the instructions on the bag and I feed looking at the dogs weight and stool condition. Some friends of mine told me that Mera Dog is very popular in Germany. My dogs just did not like it and the same with eukanuba and taste of wild. They only like RC.
Also I came to know (DONT KNOW WHETHER IT IS TRUE OR FALSE) that quality of RC available in countries like india is very bad and the food is transported in bulk containers from France to Germany and packed in India...
