I have a 4 month old VA1 (USA) Liedo vom Kuckucksland son...His ears do not stay up...sometimes one or the other is up...but rarely both at the same time...my question is should I worry about it at this age. If so...what should I do...I have heard if they do not stay up at 6 months I should glue them....Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Is there anything in the contract about the ears standing or not standing? Maybe you should call and talk to Megan, there seems to be a lot of experience there that could help you.

Not to worry... At 4 months of age, they start teething, and ears will come up and down and do strange things. However, I would go ahead and tape them if they are extremely heavy and floppy. Ed Frawley has a good article on ears. And, it's always better to be safe on the ears. If they are taped, they almost always come up. But what you are experiencing is totally normal for a 4 month GSD.

Not to worry at 4 months--- ears up at 6 or 7 weeks often flop while teething. Up and down-- in and out are normal. At 5 months or so I am sure you will see them up! If not---- BURN THE TAPE! SNIFF (NO DON'T) Go to drug store or "beauty supply" buy old fashioned hair curlers--- plastic frame / sponge roll. Bigger is better. Jumbo preferred, large will work. Forget glue! Buy (auto parts store) weather strip adhesive. Permatex is preferred, 3M second choice. Throw away plastic frame-- cover roller with adhesive (except for ear opening in front)insert in ear using pencil, eraser end down, for "handle" when positioned use hand to wrap ear into adhesive and hold a minute removing pencil. Use in both ears even if one not needed. In 5 minutes your puppy will not even know they are there. Use some "play distraction". In 10 to 14 days rollers will "fall" out. If any adhesive left just "roll" it into little ball with your finger and lift it out. No muss--No fuss--No pulled hair--No skin irritation! If you are really worried doing it now won't hurt-- BUT--- worry does not help.
