Hey all rescue people.

On the new layout, I have added a rescue forum.   I am also wondering if there is a need to add a Rescue Registry (as the kennel list)?

If so,  how would the structure be?   Per rescue dog or per rescue ,

of course there would  be Country, state, city, address,.--> description      if per dog -> Breed / ~ age

is this something that would be used?

I believe it would be used Oli. It might take a little time to get the word out to the rescues. The German Shepherd community is just a small spec in the rescue communities. Just about everybreed has a rescue. With Facebook, twitter and other social networks, the word could, and should be spread far and wide. This is a problem that IS NOT going away anytime in the near future(unfortunately). I myself will start sharing the link . This could indeed become a disposable dogs, best friend. Maybe in the future, when some "uneducated to PDB views" makes the mistake of coming on board to look for a free German Shepherd" they will find the rescue forums, and save a dog from certain death, instead of getting their head reamed out because they can't afford to buy a dog. I myself feel this would be a very welcome rescourse Oli, and you are great for considering adding it.

Hey Oli, thanks a bunch, I think the rescue option, should be by rescues, maybe like the breeders section, and let the rescues specify which breeds would be available, this would also open up the PDB forum for MORE people coming here, once people know about the rescue option.

Then possibly a rescue forum separately for dogs in immediate danger, needing to be pulled into rescue,

More people could get informed about all the wonderful help on training and feeding and behavioral aspects of dogs...I certainly will post a link on my website for the PDB if this is the case, I alread tell people to come here for training and research criteria...
Thanks a bunch,

I agree...my 2 dogs came from animal shelter and 1 from rescue....there are a lot of people who would rescue a dog if they see one in need, however just like everything else rescue fee may become an issue, just like rehoming fees, etc....i think some parameters need to be set from the start.
Example: If a rescue puppy is $900 than it's no longer a rescue it is a purchase...

.....just throwing this out before more drama brews up.

I think a rehoming fee, is someone trying to sell a dog, that would be in the classifieds section, that is not a rescue, a rescue has adoption fees. They need to have them in order to keep rescuing...just my opinion...steph

Also when a rescue gets in a purebred litter, they ususally charge more for the purebred puppies, because it helps them recoup the costs for the older dogs and dogs that have been in rescue for along time, feeding, vet costs, etc..besides everyone always wants puppies... ;-)))

i'm not sure I agree with the registry being "rescues" vs a rescue dog because someone may do rescue work but not actually run a rescue as a business. And I think there should be a cap on fees.

Thank you Oli! I believe this will go a long way towards saving dogs in shelters and rescues all over the country, and perhaps the world. I do agree with Krazy Bout K9's in that rescuers usually need to charge some kind of adoption fee, even for a healthy dog they didn't have to invest a lot in, to cover the costs of the dogs they DO have to invest a lot of time and money and care in to rehab and prepare for adoption.
