I just saw a GSD litter advertisement that had me rolling in laughter.  I so hope these people are not serious.

"Excellent Obedience Prospects"

If GSD litters are distinguished by this, what are the rest of the litters?  Poor obedience prospects?

Would that make a litter of Border Collies  "Excellent Select  Obediance prospects" ?Tongue Smile

Well my take on this would be "probably competition" obedience.  I actually have an ad similar and had to quick look and see if it was mine. :)  You would not hurt my feelings at all, just saying. I feel my pups will be great prospects for competition obedience because that is what their pedigrees are built on. Just my take on what they might mean. :)

I always balked at the "Supper Puppies" advertisement.  Can't help but wonder ....Silverware  What Smile  .

My favourite is the 'extra anatomy' ads. Sometimes I can actually see the extra anatomy on offer in the hump backs LOL.

Yes, I saw the validity of the ad, it was just the title that threw me off.    Just a layman suggestion though, add "competition" to the ad title.

I am afraid I don't see the joke. Ctidmore I agree--if they are built on that foundation and the person takes them and does right by them they could do anything. I worked for a breeder/handler/judge of Belgian Sheepdogs. She advertised her dogs like that and she had a kennel full of OTCH/AKC CH dogs to prove they were able to do competition OB. I advertise my dogs as being able to excell in any direction you want to go with them. We have drug dogs, cadaver dogs, competition OB and tracking, SAR in our pedigrees so why shouldn't they. The lines I am working with are 13th, 14th, and 15 generation dogs from my mentor--I know what they are capable of.

Now the classifieds I hate are the extra extra ones--what is so extra? Extra stud dog--now is he just an extra dog they don't need or does he have an extra penis or what? Abby I like your too extra anatomy--I've been trying to figure that one out--I guess it must be the hump........LOL  Saw one the other day that were out of VA black dogs. Had to look--sort of the same working dogs that yes they are V rated but I know not VA......................

EuroShepherd

Well...I do know dogs, including German Shepherds...who are terrible obedience prospects.  Not because of their raising and training, but because they are either very lazy, no desire to please handler, very easily distracted (ADHD/ADD), neurotic or low-IQ.
LOL beetree

I think the ads that say things like Extra Anatomy came from poor translation resources (books or online translators)

the one that kills me is "EXTRA FEMALE".....hmm...whats extra on the female? did you plan on having one less? And so this is the unexpected extra puppy? than why is it so expensive?
